I know absolutely jack about it, but it seems that there IS something about it in an off handed, left field sort of way that there IS such a thing, and that people play with this scale.
What sorts of games are there? Where are they? Who is a good system? I see this deadland game, and asked a couple of questions... but then it got me to thinking.
I know about Dust, Inquisitor, and I've read here comments from time to time that there is Historicals, and that they play these over the pond...
OK... Spill it, please, what do you all have? How do you play these games, and what does one do to get in on them?
I'd really like to know some info about them, some sources, some websites, and the like.
What do you know about this scale gaming?

I think he's confusing the Dust 1/35 Model line(which have nothing to do with either Dust game other than the vehicles being in the universe) with Dust Tactics.

Pretty much. Even at Gencon, Paolo was still saying that they're looking at what system to use.

There are actually a ton of different rules sets you could use. Any idea of what kind of setting/background/historical era?

Balance in pick up games? Two people, each with their own goals for the game, design half a board game on their own without knowing the layout of the board and hope it all works out. Good luck with that. The faster you can find like minded individuals who want the same things from the game as you, the better. |

There are guys in one of my local clubs who play WW2 in 1/35th (using rapid fire rules) and 8x6 tables.
They generally play US v Germans, but the Russians and brits have also made an appearance.

Just in case you don't know.....1/35 is not 54mm scale! 1/32 is closer to 54mm scale.
However, I guess the theme of the thread is the use of larger scale miniatures than the "standard" 28mm....
I'd say you could probably use 1/35th scale easily in most games ( not Apocolypse )....most skirmish games could easily be used with this scale....although firing ranges would suffer and be unreasonably unrealistic (not that they are in most cases anyway!)
I think when you talk 54mm scale though, the limitations become greater simply in terms of terrain and space. I'd say 54mm scale is suited to more RPG type games then hard nosed TTWG.

Just in case YOU don't know, I'm asking about these 1/35th or 54 MM games.
Don't sharpshoot when I'm trying to find out about this. The question is right there and straightforward, I'm not speculating or trying to be funny.
As for DUST, WHAT is this?

well, at its most basic, large figure gaming is more like roleplaying than wargames with smaller figures, models usualy have several actions, combat may be phases, poses/stances are important etc. All of this allows for more "realism" at the expense of "speed". Skirmish scale games, with just a squad or two at most are common. Large scale figures do look quite nice though.
heck, some people game with 1/6 figures (GI Joe/Action man scale).

Ermm....No, you're thread title says 1/35 (54MM) Scale gaming.....the lack of a distinctive OR in the title is a tad misleading if it was your intention to investigate both scales as separate entities.....I was only trying to inform you that the two are NOT the same....if you feel this is sharpshooting, you need to get back on the "calm down" pills.....alternatively, do better with your titles!

It might be that I'm dumb and just missed it, but what period/setting? You can get 1/32 in a bunch of historical periods from ancients to fantasy to ww2 and others.
For example: Napoleonic wars.
Rules: Song of Drums and Shakos by Ganesha Games - Winner of the Origins 2009 Award for Best Historical Minaitures Game
http://www.ganeshagames.net/napoleonic/
Plays with 6-20 miniatures a side.
Some miniatures:
