Hey folk.

Combi Weapons....
Do I have to state which weapon the combi weapon contains before the game or can I just say it's a Combi Weapon & pick during the game?
It doesn't seem to say anything in the BRB or my codex. But I'm not sure.
It seems a bit too good to just be able to pick on the spot.
Not quite cricket as it were.
Thought?

Well, you're going to have to model it as such, which somewhat limits what you're going to say it counts as. In friendly games, there should be no problem, but you should nonetheless declare what you're bringing before the game starts.

Generally I would say you would have to specify when buying or at least modelling the weapon.

But this is best discussed in YMDC...

The poor man really has a stake in the country. The rich man hasn't; he can go away to New Guinea in a yacht. The poor have sometimes objected to being governed badly; the rich have always objected to being governed at all
We love our superheroes because they refuse to give up on us. We can analyze them out of existence, kill them, ban them, mock them, and still they return, patiently reminding us of who we are and what we wish we could be.

What AmbitionUnbound said.
They are not a swissarmy knife combi-weapon that has them all. It's not called a Combi-Flameltasma gun...

"During the game" = no.
You need to have written your army list before the game... unless you guys do that sort of sizing up each others list before a game and change it, with both players doing the same.

This is a little story about four people named Everybody, Somebody, Anybody, and Nobody.
There was an important job to be done and Everybody was sure that Somebody would do it.
Anybody could have done it, but Nobody did it.
Somebody got angry about that because it was Everybody's job.
Everybody thought that Anybody could do it, but Nobody realized that Everybody wouldn't do it.
It ended up that Everybody blamed Somebody when Nobody did what Anybody could have done.

I agree with the agreed!

A combi weapon, is a different weapon. Much like a power sword, is not a chainsword. If you pick combi-meltas, then you have a bolter w/part of a melta gun. Not a combi flamer. As such WYSIWYG rules strictly apply here for the very reason you mentioned. Other wise you could pay for a regular combi bolter, but say no its a combi melta.

Cheers for all the feedback guys. I do write on my list what weapon I'm using actually. I generally keep it the same as the squads weapons, i.e - melta squad - Combi Melta etc. I was just checking really. I don't think that I'll be cutting my Plague Champions arms up though to model a small Melta gun on. I only really play friendly games & if anyone is gonna give me grief about it then they can just *^!@ off. I'm sure you know what I mean.....
Cheers guys.

It is a combi-weapon that you purchase, not a specific one, so technically you can swap between games, with combi-weapon on your list.

As for WYSIWYG? Magnets

I wondered for the sake of wound allocation if a combi was just a combi, or if anyone can provide any back up for a Combiflamer being a different entry from a Combimelta. It might matter on CSM termis if anyone was wondering if it would ever come up.

They are not different equipment, basically it's one type of thing (so only one wound group only).
Think of it as having 3 differnt fire modes and you pick which one you want to use before the battle.

No

Combiplasma is different IN GAME TERMS to combi-melta, and therefore is a different wound group.

You have to clearly model the correct weapon, and EVERY tournament (including UK GTs) I have *ever* been to requires that you pick before the tournament as part oif your army selection. Any *hint* that you are changing between battles is sufficient to get you DQ'd
