OK I was thinking I needed to make some changes for the growing number of SW players and the upcoming Nid tsunami HQ: Terminator Libbi w/ Storm bolter Elite: Sternguard (10x) Elite: Sternguard (10x) Elite: Dreadnought Troop: Tac w/ PF (10x) Transport: TL AssCannon RB Troop: Tac w/ PF (10x) Transport: TL AssCannon RB Fast: HF/MM Speeder Fast: HF/MM Speeder Fast: HF/MM Speeder Heavy: 4xML Dev (6x) Transport: TL Las Cannon RB Heavy: Vindicator w/ S. Shield Heavy: Vindicator w/ S. Shield Total: 2001 -The Libbi gates a Stern squad out of trouble. -I like to combat squad the tacs leaving a heavy weap. behind to sit on an objective and provide long range support while the other moves to mid-board. -I like the Devs, and with the RB nearby it supports any need to pop light armor. The RB also provide an escape route when the Devs need to abandon their position. -I want to upgrade the Tacs with better weapons like a plasma cannon and am weary of the lack of mobility for the Stern. I would also prefer to add a bodybag or two to the Dev squad. I am considering dropping the stock Dread to make points for that stuff. Local meta is not overly mech and nob bikers, wolf cavalry, and MC heavy Nid is all common. I don't face lash lists. What do you think?

What powers you taking on the librarian?
With all those sternguard pedro kantor would be a benefit.
One dreadnought will be a easy target. I presume it has a multi melta, you want to get this into range a.s.a.p so a drop pod would be ideal.
Assault cannon on the razorbacks is expensive. I would stick to heavy bolters, it just makes the weak transport even more over costed. Also what special and heavy weapons the tact squads taking? As you can only get 6 in a razorback what is happening to the other half of the squad?
Devs aren't that good. They cost too much points for what they can do.

I like 4x missile launcher devastators too.
With the ability to get cover (for them!) and ablative wounds (I field 4x missile launchers in a squad of 8 marines), I think they perform just fine at, what, 180 points?

Regarding the Librarian Powers: I always take Gate of Infinity and then play around with Force Dome or Null Zone. He is really just there to Gate the Stern out of combat or to make a mad dash toward an objective. Devastators get a bad wrap. the 4x ML in an 8 man squad puts out so many wounds. The problem I find is that mid game they have to move at some point and I figure the Razorback will help that. After they take a few wounds and the squad gets widdled down a bit, they will be able to embark and scurry to a new location. I would like to hear more opinion regarding the TL Heavy Bolters vs. the Upgrade. I realise the upgrade is expensive (75pts). However on paper Ass Cannons look so much better than Heavy Bolters! I need more input on this to be completely honest so help me out! Pedro Could work. I will look into that. Good Suggestion. If I get a drop pod for the Dread and nothing else, it will become a suicide mission in most cases. Last time I ran Drop Pods I ran three of them. 1) Dread 2) Stern W/ Libbi 3) Stern w/ Libbi. This was my old list and although it was strong, the list took more skill to play then I honestly have. It was a scalpel, not a hammer. Automatically Appended Next Post: I don't want to go down that road again. Is the suggestion then to just drop the Dread altogether?

The assault cannon is a little bit stronger and has rending and a extra shot, but reduced ranged. I think the heavy bolter is fine and you really want to keep those steel boxes as cheap as possible. Lets face it they're not super strong.
If you get a drop pod for the dread then thats the only thing in a pod, as you said. So I would drop the dread all together.

Oh and regarding the weapons outfit for the Tac squads. My most successful combo has been plasma cannon and free flamer. Obviously melta is always good and I don't mind the risk associated with plasma guns. I have to think what will work best for all comers. I will likely just go with the flamer.

In the first list, I'd give the Librarian a storm shield instead of a storm bolter.
Moreover, I'd give the RB an assault cannon instead of a lascannon.
Multi-shot weapons are key vs Nids.

The RB with the TL las cannon will be sitting in the rear of deployment with the devastators I imagine the range will be an issue. On the other hand, Nids will close the gap pretty quickly and range may not be an issue.

Well, those new MC's can have up to 6 wounds but 3+ armor saves.
This makes an assault cannon superior to the lascannon.
