I watched the movie today and I'm thinking of making a squad of those marines in the movie. So far I'm mixing the Cadian's body with Catachan legs and arms and a mix of cadian and catachan heads with greenstuffed face masks for the infantry with the lasguns shortened a bit. Any ideas on what I could make the walkers with? I was thinking of using either a tau battlesuit or a sentinel and bulking it up. I'll post pics once I glue and paint the first two figures

The Imperium of Man is able to traverse the Warp with difficulty when their Emperor concentrates from his golden life support machine and lights the way. Unfortunately, because the Emperor has the attention span of the average 5-year-old Pokemon fanboy, this means that many an unfortunate Imperial ship has had the WTF WHERE'D THE LIGHTS GO experience, which in the Warp is invariably fatal. |

After seeing the movie I thought about converting sentinels to look more like the armored suits from the movie. I was thinking about putting arms on them and making the weapons into rifles that could be placed into the sentinel's hands (with big nasty bayonets on them of course). I messed around with some cardboard and an already built sentinel and it didn't seem too hard to do with some plasticard. I wasn't sure about changing the legs. I was looking at turning the piece the legs fit onto up and attatching the body to that and building some armor plates around it. I put the idea aside to work on a heavy air transport for my jungle army somewhat inspired by the command ship thing in Avatar. If I pick up a new sentinel kit I will probably get around to it again.
I'm interested to see what you come up with, keep us updated.

The sentinels are the trickiest to mod.
You'll need arms fitted to hold the autocannons (what the guns are. 30mm autocannons.) which can be made from sprue or tubing. Then there's the cockpit canopy (you can buy clear acetate sheet for making canopies, but it is tricky stuff to work with if you don't know what you are doing.
The Scorpions (gunships) and samsons (general purpose flier with two doorgunners) are Vendettas and Valkyries (and there ARE toy models of these available - but they are scaled for the 3" figures.
I'm thinking about a Na'vi list using kroot.

It might be easier to convert M8 Apes from Starship Troopers than IG Sentinels

It is, but they are a hell of a lot harder to find plus kitbashing your own ones (they might look like the APUs from the Matrix movies also) will teach you useful scratchbuilding skills.

I looked around my store for something that resembles an AMP unit from the movie but nothing comes close so I was thinking of using a sentinel hull and just scratch building the rest of it. I also decided not to make the facemasks as my greenstuffing skills are a bit....well bad. Pic coming really soon. I just finished the squad sergeant and I'm thinking of buying a box of orlocks and mixing them with the IG sets

I had the exact same thought... cleaned up kroot bodies, tau head (just gs a nose and ears and hair) and then a tail (possibly also gs).
Could be used in a Tau army as "counts as kroot".
I was thinking of the walkers as a kitbash btwn a sentinal and a broadside - maybe broadside arms and even thinking eldar wraithlord for the hands - or you could just use the whole wraithlords arms and bulk them up with GS & plasticard... then there are the warwalkers - another option.
