Subject: The awful truth about Trygon Prime

A trygon may be upgraded to a trygon prime for the price of a terminator.
A trygon prime gains a number of abilities including Synapse, Shadow in the Warp, and Containment Spines. It also gains a slightly increased statline.
It otherwise counts as a trygon.
Trygons come standard with a Bio-electric Pulse, which is S5 AP5 Assault 6.
Containment Spines are S5 AP5 Assault 12.
Monstrous Creatures can fire 2 weapons in a single turn.
Therefore, the trygon prime comes standard with a Strength 5 AP 5 Assault 18 gun.
Let the arguments commence.

Read Containment spines (page 50).
"A Trygon Prime uses the following profile when firing its bio-electric pulse"
By that, it is a replacement. . .
|
"It is not the bullet with your name on it that should worry you, it's the one labeled "To whom it may concern. . ."

I thought the Tygron Prime was a special character not an upgrade.

No it's an upgrade. I think the only real reason to ever upgrade him is if you plan on podding a lot of troops with no synapse across the board. Otherwise it's a waste.

There's also the advantage of not having to worry about your trygon going instinctive behaviour on you, and shadow in the warp which will be nice for stopping those psychic powers from going off (even at LD10, you have a 50% chance of failing a Leadership test on 3d6) edit: Also, In before Eidolon's post is deleted...

Interceptor Drones can disembark at any point during the Sun Shark's move (even though models cannot normally disembark from Zooming Flyers).
