Whats up Dakka. I recently (maybe a year-ish) picked up playing 40K with a Space Marine army. I do a lot of my reading on stuff while im at work, which has a RIDICULOUS websense filter that blocks probably 75% of the websites i try to go to. (including Weather.com....due to violence...?). The fact that i can get on here makes me oh so happy inside. heh.

Background - I started playing Warhammer probably...11 years ago or so. A buddy (ORKS) got me some Space Marines for my birthday and insisted i start to play. I didn't have the patience for the game and eventually sold all of my mini's to his brother, who also played SM. 10 years later in college, i kinda picked it up again. I wanted to do something different than sitting back and shooting the majority of the time, so i invested in some...Space Marines Yeah, it doesn't make sense to me either heh. Either way, its time for something new.

For starters, there are about four of us who usually play games. Between us we have, Marines, Chaos Marines, Orks, Eldar, Necrons, and Tyranids. I want to start a new army, and DEFINATELY want to do something that no one has. I realize that their aren't a whole lot of options left, especially if i want to avoid the shooty army. Im leaning (practically falling over) towards Chaos Daemons.

How do they play? What are the best options for troops? Whats a good starting army list? ...anything anyone wants to say is verry helpful. I havn't done a whole lot of searching yet, but i will as soon as i click post.

Yay! Another potential Daemon player - need more of those, this site seems to lean towards the Corpse worshippers.

If you're more into painting Chaos offers the most variety and has alot of awesome models. As for what's best in a game, is all personal preference. Post a question in General Discussion and people will give tips on which direction you should go. I'm more Slaanesh/Khorne myself. And they're quite hard to play, very tactical and excel in CC mostly with a few exceptions. But so fun, good luck with your decision.

Yeah. The entire army gets split into two and you roll for which half comes in on the first turn. The rest of the army arrives from reserves normally on the second turn.

The entire army nearly has invulnerable saves and for the most part is fearless.
