Hiya.

Yeah sorry, was in the airport rushing to use my last minute of internet credit.

They were plastic models.

Some were a few years old and some were brand new, so the type of plastic does not matter.

I left them in a bowl, filled it with the brake fluid, and then left them there for 24 hours.

after that just use an old toothbrush on the models and the paint comes away very easy.

Hope this helps for anyone needing to strip paint.

Gathering the Informations.

Do not use brake fluid if you want the models to be usable afterwards.

I always use simple green. I've heard brake fluid works faster but can also damage the models depending how long it sits in there.

I just primed and based coated some of the gretchin. no problems at all.

maybe you are thinking of a different rating?

i'm using DOT 4 brake fluid.

one batch i left in there for 3 hours, and it worked fine. had to scrub a bit harder with the toothbrush though.

the other batch i left in for 24 hours. paint really fell away, and the model was fine. no loss of detail, no drooping arms, etc.

Maybe, but quite simply: I'd rather not risk it either way, especially with how easy it is to find Simple Green or (alternatively) it is to make a mix of Tamiya's Acrylic Paint Thinner(X-28 is the specifics) with a bit of rubbing alcohol and that stuff eats the acrylics right off.
