playing in a doubles tourny, what would be the best 1000 point guard army?

What models do you have?

What is your partner taking?

what force do you usually run?

ive got 60 vostroyans with lasguns,10 with plasma guns, command squad,4 melta guns, a flamer, 6 heavy bolter teams, junior officer, 6 leman russ battle tanks, and a basalisk

i havnt played guard in a while but i was thinking of running all infantry, 4 vet squads with 2 plasma guns and a melta in each squad, command hq with master of ordnance and 2 body guard, standard bearer and commander with power weapon and 2 plasma gunners, then 1 platoon with basic platoon command to use to give my vets cover

Melta, Plasma or Flamer vets? What load out are the Russes?

plasma vets, russes are battle cannons, side sponsored heavy bolters, hull mounted laz cannon

Then he has no anti-Armour so you can you should take as many autocannons and lascannons and demolisher's as you can

Chimeras will definitely be good. You have to be able to take objectives to win if you are using them.

I'm definitely not an experienced IG player, nor do I know anything about the pricing of their models. BUT, I do have some very bad experiences in battles against some Leman Russ Executioners, considering how badly i usually get beaten by these, i suggest you buy one.

Leman Russ Executioners are very espensive for a 1000 point army. With Sponson your talking what? 230 points

Don't mix plasma and melta, they are for two different things. Make squads with 3 plasma, and other squads with 3 melta. Makes them more efficient, and will help your list over all.

I think he means 2 squads with 3 plasmas and 1 squad with 3 meltas.

i test played this army last night. : 3 vet squads, 2 squads with 3 plasma, 1 with sargeant harkar and 3 meltas. 2 vet squads in chimeras, harkar infiltraded. hq with 3 plasma commander and medic. heavy support was a manticore. i absolutely smashed a space marine army in 4 turns, they had nothing left on the table, i lost 2 chimeras and 10 vets.

With Manticore's, there is no turn 5.

there is still a turn 5 with manticores, just wont get to shoot em

I take a company command squad
2 platoons w/ command squad, 2x infantry in each, 1x heavy weapons in each, and 1 special weapon squad in each w/ 3 snipers, then an LR Executioner and some Medusa's.

Tanks: Heavy weapons and Medusa's
Infantry: My infantry and Medusa's
Heavy Infantry (eg termies): LR Executioner or Medusa's
Monstrous Creatures: Sniper teams

ok ive decided to go with. 3 vet squads, 1 with plasma in chimera, 1 with a valkyrie with plasmas 1 with harkar infiltrating with meltas. hq command squad with commander and 3 plasma and medic and chimera. leman russ battle tank as heavy support.
