Dunno if this would be a proper place to put this kinda stuff. But i'm currently working on some Skaven artwork I plan on using as some portfolio pieces in the future.



Not done yet, still got a lot of a way to go. I think I might greenstuff my Poison wind Globadiers to look like this once I get them in.

And thanks for the reference, I suck with hands, so this'll be a lot of help. I need to get into the habit of finding more reference, I usually do this stuff off of the top of my head.

Another picture i've been working on. I don't have a scanner at the moment so this picture should suffice for the time being.

-edit : Just touched it up in photoshop... And just realized theres pet hair on it. Lol.

Alright, finished the picture finally, experimented a little using photoshop so bear with me. The tablet I was using to 'color' this didn't have the software installed, so it was a bit hard to be precise, so i just 'washed' over the image. I'll make another update later tonight with my own computer, expect a bit more later on.

Its not a skaven, but its a rat dude either way. Its actually a character i'm using for a DnD campaign i'm in.

I do have another skaven drawing in the works at the moment though.

How can people just draw like that?! it amazes me.

The detail on the first is wonderful. You've taken a loose fantasy concept ('wearing a protectively rat mask', in this instance) and shown exactly how such a thing could actually work.

I also couldn't stop thinking 'steampunk rat' which is by no means a bad thing.

Wow I really like how you did the mouth on the first rat. Very gross that you can see where they stitched up his mouth, and tacked it to the respirator.

A lot of my work is usually fantasy themed, most of my childhood had been lost in D&D Indulgence so it has had a great influence in my artwork to this very day. Aside from that I have a few steampunk and futuristic concepts in the works I might reveal here in this thread in the following months.

Anyway, I finished up that character drawing of mine. Not too happy with it though. I just scan my images, hit them with a pale color and use the burn/ dodge tool to make my shades and the such. I'm still pretty new to this, but i believe it'd be beneficial to my style and presentation of my work... I have to get started on a lot of artwork for my online portfolio which is in the works.

He reminds me of Reepicheep from the Chronicles of Narnia (The books; I haven't seen the movies). Definitely a nice contrast with your other rodents.

Nice illustrations, I like the attention to detail on the stitching and leather. I think you would make a very good concept artist. Do you use traditional media or digital?

Thanks , I haven't read any of the Narnia novels, or seen the movies, they never clicked in for me, but I might give it a read in the following months, got to find a new book...

Concept artist is the job i'm after right now. In late june I will be submitting an online portfolio to Reapermini's and hope i can get a job for them in making concept drawings for their miniatures, i'm pretty stoked about it.

As for media. I used to use a lot of inking pens and the like, but eventually gave up on them (you cannot correct pen and ink without drastic measures.) and resorted in using pencils exclusively. The lineart itself is done traditionally, but when it comes to the shading I do, I do so on photoshop.

How much do you charge for concept art anyways? If you want to diversify your portfolio before going to Reaper, you might want to try out some stuff for us (check out the Troll Forged Miniatures forum link in my sig). We could always use artists to visualize our thoughts!

I'm not sure to be honest, haha. I'm still pretty fresh as far as being a freelance artist goes. So perhaps we could discuss pricing privately in private messaging.

I'll talk to a good friend of mine tomorrow, I think he would have a good idea at what my stuff should be priced at.

Anyway, I have another drawing in the works at the moment. A character drawing for another freind of mine who plays a Dwarf Ranger. Really liking the design so far.

I should have an update by this evening.

More work comin' up. School years nearly done so I can finally deticate a bit more time to drawing.

Still haven't finished that dwarf pic. But I got something else done instead, lol.



Just some... Bear-Ogre thing, Not sure exactly. But i'm pretty happy how it turned out aside the fact it looks like its about to topple over. Didn't really take balance into considoration, either way. the anatomy is satisfactory. might play around with that when i do more skaven fanart in the future.

Digging the bear-ogre..were-bear...thing. He's got some nice child-bearing hips, lol...

lol, yeah. I shouldd've made his midsection more bulky, Oh well.

Got a few other things to do, might upload by the end of this weekend.
