Citadel Super Glue ok for plastic models?

It will work, but it's not the best glue for the job.

Plastic cement (also sometimes called polystyrene cement) is better for plastic models. Don't buy GW's, though... it's over-priced, watery rubbish.

I use the Revell stuff (blue bottle, similar steel needle tip, though) as the Testors stuff is harder to get here.

It also comes in a jar for other jobs (as I use Squadron Green putty for filling gaps - instead of GS - and SG can be thinned with liquid poly in a jar)>

Yes but you have to hold it abit longer. But Citidel glue is over priced you'd be better of just going to Walmart and geting Krazy Glue thats what I use and I've never a problem.

Modelmasters or Testors are fine. They both come in the same bottle. Modelmasters has black labeling and Testors has Red labeling

I personally use Testors because it is easily found here.

I personally can't stand plastic glue and prefer superglue. Wouldn't use the citadel brand either way, though.

Not a problem when one has clamps for the job (and pegs and rubber bands).

That said, it usually doesn't take longer than 15 seconds for the liquid poly I use to 'grab'. If it's taking longer than 30 seconds, you are using too much.

Testors Glue in the Orange tube works good and is really cheap. Only around $2

On Dakka he was Eldanar. In our area, he was Lee. R.I.P., Lee Guthrie.

Bit of a thread hijack but has anyone experienced plastic glue not bonding greenstuff propperly?

Its a polymer based substance so it should work yet it doesnt seem to melt the GS in the way it does plastic, instead it just dries in a pseudo superglue kind of bond that is breakable with any sudden force.

Have i just messed up somehow?

I use Model Master Glue, but its not on the Testors site, lol, the plastic glue comes in a red tube, and the metal glue comes in a green tube, its great, and is like $1-$2 a tube, and lasts forever.

I use Citadels cause all the arts and craftys/modelling shops around my town suck for good art supplies. Works fine, but it could be better.

Green Stuff is resin, not polymer based. Plastic glue will have no real effect.

I use ambroid proweld liquid cement and i find it much better than the gel glues.
As for superglue- I completely avoid it when gluing plastic to plastic.

Superglue. At least I know that if I want to redo a model later, I can throw it in Superclean and strip the paint and weaken the glue bond enough that I can easily disassemble the model and start over. Can't do that with plastic glue.
