Hi guys,
Hive tyrant with lash whip + acid blood in close combat. He took 5 unsaved wounds from terminators, does the terminators take 5 initiative tests as 1 or 4?
Thought I would share this with you guys. I wrote a topic about watching Starship Troopers for anti Tyranid tactic couple days ago, and talked about how they could round up the bugs with multi-assault and then blast them with flamers and plate weapon after losing the assault (base on an inspiration from the movie nearly the end). Turnout, this works better for the Mawloc's terror from the deep ability. Friend or foe, they eat them all.
During a capture and control game, Mawlocs win again. Since it's a land grab game, killing key units is important, or otherwise. Mawloc being an one trick pony, so I tried to keep them healthy by keeping them at my table corner. Burrowed both at the end of turn 4, and deep strike to contest won me the game.

Unlike sweeping advance, characteristic tests do NOT have to use the unmodified characteristic. In this situation, the Initiative test for Acid Blood would be taken at Initiative 1.

It should be noted that lash whips can easily make a unit "complex" as only models in base contact are affected. If there were enough terminators (from the example) to assign the wounds to model NOT in base, they would test at 4.

Thanks guys, I knew that I should of come ask asap. My opponent argued that since the HT die after 4 wounds and removed from the table, his units are no longer in base contact (lash whip effect is negated), so he used initiative 4 for everyone. Now that I have the rule lawyers on my side, deep striking HT will win next game!
