Board set up:
Orks win initiative, but erroneously believing that the drop pod must enter on turn 1, choose to go second
Blood Angels set up:
Blood angels place one
Tac squad on their objective out of their Rhino. The Rhino is deployed at the 24" line. The Drop pod /w dread is placed in reserves to deep strike, everything else will come in on turn 1.
Ork set up:
Kommandos are placed in reserve to ambush, everything else is held off the board to come in on turn 1
Blood Angels Turn 1:
Second Rhino drives onto the board near the
Tac Squad on objective. Both Baal Preds and Vindicator drive onto the board. The empty rhino overcharges it's engines and drives over the the refinery. Death Company forms up behind the Preds and Vindicator.
Orks Turn 1:
Both Battle Wagons and the Trukk drive on to the board near the home objective.
Blood Angels turn 2:
Reserves do not show up
The far left Baal trys to overcharge it's engines and stalls. The other Baal succeeds in overcharging and moves forward 6". The Vindicator moves forward 6". Death Company jumps forwards towards the refinery.
The Stalled Baal is just out of range of the Orks, the second Baal opens fire at the BW with the Nobs and Warboss, but fails to penetrate. The vindicator fires on the same BW, hits, pens, and blows up the BW, no wounds are caused by the explosion. The
Tac Squad in the Rhino fires a missile at the Trukk, immobilizing it. The disembarked
Tac Squad fires a missile on the second BW, but fails to do any damage.
Orks turn 2:
Kommandos Show up!
Snikrot and the Boys creep onto the board behind the
Tac Squad and Rhino.
The surviving BW lumbers forward 13", the boyz disembark 2" from the front (and around the sides)
Thraka and the Nobs hoof it towards the next piece of area terrain.
The Trukk Boyz disembark and move forward towards the home objective.
Thraka calls the Waaagh!
BW Boyz move 6" towards the Vindi& Baal
Thraka& Nobz move further up in terrain
Trukk Boyz dig in around the home objective.
Assault: BW boyz dual assault the Vindicator and Baal Pred. Being deemed the bigger threat, the Vindi gets the Nob on it.
After all is said and done, the vindicator is immobilized with no weapons left, the Baal is merely shaken.
Snikrot and Kommandos dual assault the
Tac Squad and Rhino. The Rhino is Shaken, Stunned, and had it's storm bolter knocked off. The burnas and boyz fluffed their rolls against the
Tac Squad, only killing a couple. The Kommandos lose combat by two, lose two more the fearless rolls.
Blood Angels Turn 3:
Reserves Arrive!
The Assault Drop pod comes in, disgorging the furioso Dread by the Trukk Boyz
The previously stalled Baal succeeds in getting it's OCE this time, and moves over towards the refinery. The shaken Baal does not Overcharge, but does not stall, and moves back away from the boys.
The
Tac Squad in the Rhino disembarks and moves into position to join the assault with the Kommandos.
Death Company jumps forward towards the Nobz
The Baal opens up on the Nob Squad with auto Cannons and heavy bolters, but between the cover saves and feel no pain, doesn't accomplish much. Death Company fires their pistols at the Nobz, to no effect.
The dread opens fire on the Trukk Boyz, killing one.
Tac Squad joins the assault on Kommandos. Kommandos are wiped out, taking a couple marines with them.
Death Company assaults Nobz, causing some serious damage but the answering Power Klaws wreak some serious payback on the death company.
Dreadnaught assaults Trukk Boyz, killing two. Power klaw immobilizes the dread.
Ork Turn 3:
BW moves forward towards the Marine objective
BW boyz move forward 6" towards the
Tac Squad.
BW Boyz elect not to shoot, and declare assault. On measuring, they are just within range, charging the
Tac Squad.
Thraka Rips Lemartes to pieces, and the Death Company is further devastated, but a couple manage to stay alive and keep the Nobz tied up.
The BW Boyz badly damages the
Tac Squad, but they stay stuck in
The Dread kills another couple boyz.
Nob glances and penetrates, the penetrate is a destroyed result, but the dread uses it's venerable rule to reroll it, and it turns into a shaken. Combat is tied.
Blood Angel Turn 4:
The un-engaged
Tac squad fires a missile at the survivng BW, immobilizing it.
In assault, the BW Boyz do more damage to the
Tac Squad, but remain stuck in.
The Nobz Finished off Death Company and consolidated 1"
The Dread kills another boy, is glanced in return.
Ork Turn 4:
Made a mistake this turn, having just moved the Nobz their consolidation move, was thinking they had moved this turn, so started shooting before realizing they should have moved. Oh well.
Big Shoota on the immobilized truck fires on the Rhino by the refinery but fails to hit. Big shooter on the immobilized BW shoots at the
Tac Squad, but does no damage.
BW Boyz finish off the
Tac Squad and consolidate into the cover of the crater.
Dread kills a boy, finally gets blown up by the Nob, which kills two more boyz.
Blood Angels Turn 5:
Both Baals Overcharge and move forward. The
Tac Squad moves forward. The Rhino by the objective Overcharges and races towards the Orks Objective.
The Baal Pred buy the crater and the
Tac Squad fires on the BW Boyz, who go to ground. Casualties are suffered, but they pass their break test.
The Baal Pred by the Refinery opens fire on the Nobs, but causing little damage.
Orks Turn 5:
The Nobz lucked out after the blunder of not moving last turn, getting a 6 on their move through cover and a 6 on their run, allowing them to make it to the crater near the
BA objective.
The BW Boyz had gone to ground, and so can not act
The surviving Trukk Boyz assault the drop pod.
The big shoota on the BW shot at the rear armor of the Rhino heading for the Ork Objective, but fails to hit. The Big Shoota on the Trukk shoots at the Rhino's front armor, glancing and stunning the Rhino.
The Trukk Boys manage to wreck the Drop Pod.
BA Turn 6:
The Rhino by the refinery overcharges and moves forward, but can not get close enough to the Ork Objective.
The
Tac Squad adjusts position slightly, trying to form a wall to keep the Orks more than 3" from their objective.
The Preds and the
Tac Squad focus fire on the BW Boyz, leaving just the Nob with one wound left, who failed his break test and fell back 9"
Ork Turn 6
The Big Shootas fire to no effect. The Surviving Nobz & Thraka move forward, and then assault into the
Tac Squad, their Power Klaws wreaking terrible destruction. The few remaining survivors manage to hang on, and the game ends. On measuring, the
BA player had misjudged their distance by a quarter inch, and Thraka's huge base ends up contesting the
BA objective, victory to the Orks.
This was a very fun game that came right down to the wire. The Diversified Nob squad continues to impress, although they were extremely lucky with their cover saves and
FNP rolls all game.
