Hi there everyone. I'm just about to start on some Dire Avengers for a friend, going with a blue/white/black with some bone thrown in as the scheme for the army. I can paint bone/white/black easily enough, but i was looking for some tips on getting some nice blue colour on these chaps. I was thinking some thinned down Shadow Grey followed by some midnight blue then ultramarines blue... I'm not sure what paint to drybrush it with though. Any tips on painting some blue eldar would be great I was hoping for a blue close to this

Games Workshop site has a good tutorial on how to paint the blue on Dire Avengers. I think they layer on Regal Blue, then Enchanted Blue for the main colour (which is slightly darker than Ultramarines Blue), then highlight with Ice Blue and White. If you're gonna drybrush the blues though, I'd recommend using the Asurmen Blue wash to help blend the colours together, and reduce the chalky/powdery look that can come with drybrushing.

I totally facepalmed a minute after the OP, as i thought "i wonder if GW has a guide on their site...." but i was looking for a slightly brighter look than theirs. I've gone regal for the base, going to get a crunk marine and slap him up with mordian and ultramarine and see how he turns out. I'm thinking bone helmets instead of white, but I'm still kind of 50/50 on that.

My brother started off with a skull white base, followed by regal blue. Next he used ultramarine blue and washed it with the old blue ink((wattered down, of course), then hit it with a highlight of either lightning blue or ultramarine blue and skullwhite mixed 50/50.
As for the bone helmets, it would be a nice change. Though fulff dictates that their helmets are typically white, you could certainly change it. If you do want a differnt color, try an ivory color; perhaps an equal part mix of skull white and bleached bone?

The difference between commitment and involvement is like eggs and ham; the ckicken was "involved", the pig was "comitted".
