So these are what I've narrowed it down to to really start painting and play testing for an Indy GT in February. Which list do you guys like more?

List 1:

HQ

Living Lightning, Murderous Hurricane, Chooser

Rune Priest-100
Living Lightning, Storm Caller

Elite

1xWG in PA w/Fist, Combi-Flamer
3xWG in TA w/Combi-Meltas
Drop Pod

Troop

8 Grey Hunters-190
MotW, PW, Melta, Rhino

8 Grey Hunters-190

6 Long Fangs-180
5xMissile Launchers, Razorback

6 Long Fangs-180
5xMissile Launchers, Razorback

In this list the PA WG and Rune Priests each join a unit of Grey Hunters. Should have all the lighter anti-tank I need with enough units to tie up the heavy hitters if need be until I can bring the right force to bear.

List 2:

The second list loses me a Psyker but gives me a faster and expendable can opener for scary tanks. Not sold on the Stormshield since I could almost buy a second guy for that cost. It also gains me a melta and a chainfist in the termicide squad to make them more of a threat after they fire off their combi-meltas.

So those are the lists. Thoughts and tweaks are still welcome but please stay within the framework of what you see already displayed (ex. don't tell me to bring Skyclaws ). I look forward to your thoughts and opinions.

My first thought was bikes instead of Thunderwolf cavalry. Should say I like the squad organization of the second list. But I'd go for another rune priest over the thunderwolf. An individual is a target, a squad leader is much less of one. Throw the second priest with one of the razorback squads.

Well I figured with all the vehicles screening the TWC model the chance of him getting shot before he makes his move is limited. His real purpose is a suicide unit to take out LR's or Guard tanks as fast a possible. Though I might consider merging the two lists and just swapping the TWC for the other Rune Priest.

If you plan on suiciding why not a lone wolf that is designed to suicide. He doesn't hurt you if he dies, as far as victory points, he only hurts if he lives. Melta bombs and 2 wolves to take hits. Cost 45 points.

Take two of them for less than one cavalry. Cavalry move 6 inches anyways so you wouldn't move slower, you would just have a shorter charge range.

Oh, that reminds me. You could use some of the saved points to put melta bombs on your HQ

Just realized what would work. Swiftclaw bikers with melta bombs. Turbo boost for invulnerable save and then assault next turn.

Have you thought about njal? your 2 rune priests will only use 2 powers a turn between them, njal can do that on his own and has access to all the powers so you'll have tempests wrath and jotww if you want in addition to his sweet stormcaller ability.

Also how effective are you expecting the lone wolves to be kitted for tank hunting? I'm pretty sure any vehicles are just going to keep an 11 inch bubble around them while they get shot to death. Could be useful but is "could be" worth 170 points? Thats another hq, or a squad of GH's in a razorback or hell even a basic 5 man squad of termies.

overall I think your 1st list is better

Ummm...somewhere...

Well the second list is good, but even behind your mech wall that lone TWC will march into a squad by himself, kill 3 or so guys then get hist back, he is a single wound model and by himself thats just not good! I think that the extra RP in the first list would do more damage with LL

If you are going to run a lone thunderwolf try an ironpriest. He doesn't get a storm shield, but he can come with cyberwolves to dump wounds on from shooting and has a thunderhamer and servo arm standard.

@Ringarin

I've actually have 2 lone wolves already and I really like the way they are geared. They are dreadnought/mc/killer unit holder uppers. The idea of bikers is possible but 3 melta bomb attacks vs. 5 ST10 attacks normally makes me prefer the TWC guy.

@Aftersong

Hadn't thought about using Njal instead of the two runepriests. Give up 2 wounds in exchange for the extra power going off and a 3+ dispel. Bears thinking on.

@Whitewolf

Yeah i'm leaning toward the second list just with the rune priest replacing the TWC.

@Durandal

I'm not gonna give up my lonewolves but the Ironpriest in a different list has merits. I appreciate the though.

Don't know how I missed them on the list. The major advantage that the bikes have over cavalry is the survivability. They can turbo boost for the 3+ invulnerable which is better than the Thunderwolf cavalry.

So That was my main thought. Could give one a powerfist, but then would need 10 more points from somewhere to give all 3 meltabombs.

I personally like the first list more than the second, here are my reasons:

1) A lone Thunderwolf is not going to make or break anyone; in addition, being shielded by Razorbacks doesn't lean to a happy ending. Given the amount of ranged weapons that an enemy can bring to bear, those Razorbacks aren't going to last long.

2) The maximizing of the Wolf Guard for the Grey Hunters is better.

Overall, I see several things worth mentioning about both lists.

1) There really is no need to take a Power Weapon in a unit that already has Mark of the Wulfen, those points could be better spent giving the Mark to the 5-6 man Grey Hunters in the Razorbacks increasing their kill ratio.

2) As was stated before Njal would be an amazing addition to your force and could bring much more to the field with his Lord of Tempests ability in addition to his Wargear. You could drop the Terminators and one Rune Priest so that you could afford him, putting him and the other Rune Priest in the Rhinos to pour on the fire.

3) 15 Missile Launchers just seems rather extreme, I would consider possibly exchanging a few for some Plasma Cannons as they can really help out, especially against enemies with 2+ Armor Saves and Hordes.

4) Try and give the Lone Wolves some back up with 2 Fenrisian Wolves, that way he can make it across the field foot slogging and still be effective.

Just my two cents, hope it helps.
