This came up in a game earlier:

The Eldar Jetbike rules gives them a 6" assault move in any direction (Much like my own jump suits).

The question is does this extend to Dark Eldar Jetbikes?

Opponents Logic: Dark Eldar are still Eldar (As a species) and thus Dark Eldar jetbikes are still Eldar Jetbikes.

My Logic: Eldar Jet Bikes come from Codex: Eldar, NOT Codex: Dark Eldar. I also mentioned that Guardsman & Space Marines are both humans by species but they are clearly not equals.

I see why he thinks what he does but I feel he is wrong. Can anyone confirm?

No they are not the same. The rules for both are from different codices.

Indeed, that's what I thought. Upon getting a hold of a DE codex, Under Reaver Jetbikes in wargear it says "Treated in the same manner as a normal jetbike"

I'll have to show him this.

US

The rule is actually from the 40k Rulebook, but as the OP though not they do not get the 6" move for the simple fact that they are Dark Eldar not Eldar.

Both of you are wrong.

"‘A Dark Eldar character on a Reaver Jetbike
changes its unit type from Infantry to Jetbike,
with all of the benefits of an Eldar Jetbike
described in the rulebook."

Taken from the Errata printed in the FAQ.

Interceptor Drones can disembark at any point during the Sun Shark's move (even though models cannot normally disembark from Zooming Flyers).

I go strictly by the Codex as thats what the tournaments I compete in use.

Sadly, to my knowledge, the F.A.Q. is not an official rules change, which partially explains why Gwar! is known to have such a hatred of them.

Sorry if I mis-read people but I remember seeing several times people say that the F.A.Q's, while from G.W. are not Officially supported as rules.

The Errata ARE official rule changes, they are totally 100% official, even Gwar has no recourse for discounting them, there is no excuse, an Errata is the rules.

edit: For total clarity, here is what GW say about Erratas

"The Errata are simply a list of the corrections we plan to make on the next reprint of the book to fix the mistakes that managed to slip into the text (no matter how many times you check a book, there are always some!). These are obviously errors, for example a model that has WS3 in the book's bestiary and WS4 in the book's army list. The Errata would say something like: 'Page 96. Replace WS3 with WS4 in the profile of the so-and-so model'.

The Errata have the same level of 'authority' as the main rules, as they effectively modify the published material. They are 'hard' material. It is a good idea to read them and be aware of their existence, but luckily there are very few of them for each book."

I'm not saying Gwar! said they aren't official, I just know he doesn't like them lol.

But thanks, I could have sworn I heard somewhere they aren't official.

The FAQs are said to not be official, although almost everyone follows them, but the documents titled FAQs contain both Errata (totally official) FAQs (said to be unofficial) GW break this all down in their FAQ section.

Ah I see, so if I got this right:

Errata = 100% Official Rules

F.A.Q. = meh, maybe . . .maybe not. . .

???

Yep, although as I say, most people do use the FAQs, so unless you know in advance you won't be, don't assume that they won't be a factor.

No, the only things that benefit from the rule are Eldar Jetbikes (the wargear from the Eldar codex) and Reaver Jetbikes, The only other Jetbikes I can think of are Deffkoptas and Sammael, neither of them are said to be Eldar Jetbikes or benefit from the Eldar Jetbike rules, so they do not.

Chaos Daemons have jetbikes, too. (Heralds of Tzeentch on chariots, and screamer units.) Of course, they're not eldar jetbikes, either. :(
