Painlord Titan Princeps of Slaanesh
|
Chaos lord: 90 points, WS6, S4 T4, A3, power armour save and mediocre invul save. Fearless, but as with any character if he joins a non-fearless squad he loses it [yeah, Abaddon in his terminator bodyguard can be chased off the board].
Warrior prime, for also 90 points if you buy him boneswords, is the same WS, better S and T, more attacks, same save minus the invulnerable, ignores armour saves, causes instant death on a failed ld test, re-rolls 1's to hit, screws with enemy psykers, and makes everyone in a 12" radius fearless.
I don't have a problem with pretty much anything in the nid codex, but this comparison makes me downright sick. Why do chaos lords cost SO MUCH for SO LITTLE? Why doesn't ANYTHING in the chaos army make their followers fearless besides being a cult troop choice, a daemon or an obliterator?

Obviously Codex Creep... *rolls eyes*.
If they look juicy enough go with count as...
Lord = Warrrior Alpha.
Zerkers = Stealers.

Otherwise, just accept that the writer of the CSM codex didn't care too much and work with what you have.

This is a little story about four people named Everybody, Somebody, Anybody, and Nobody.
There was an important job to be done and Everybody was sure that Somebody would do it.
Anybody could have done it, but Nobody did it.
Somebody got angry about that because it was Everybody's job.
Everybody thought that Anybody could do it, but Nobody realized that Everybody wouldn't do it.
It ended up that Everybody blamed Somebody when Nobody did what Anybody could have done.

I'm glad Papa Nurgle is still on the good side of GW, unlike the Dust Buckets' God.
I think Noise Marines might be getting a leg up vs. Tyranids...as normal CSM and Plague marines are pretty much the same vs them.
Prob. more safer shooting most of the things than being in combat with them.
At least with the Lord you have access to weapons that could kill yourself.....wait...what?

Chaos fights against the Imperium and Eldar. Tyranids fight against Ultramarines and Eldar. Since there is no reason for Chaos to be fighting against Tyranids, they were never playtested against each other.

Actually... the Lord is not balanced in his own codex. Nobody takes them outside of people who feel that a Chaos Lord is more "fluffy" for their own army.

@kronk:
Zerkers are fearless, but Spellbound did specifically say non-fearless units... like Raptors, Termies, CSM, and the like.

I think Chaos does have a reason to fight the nids. If the nids scour the galaxy of life would that not deprive the chaos gods of their emotional sustenance?

The problem is you're comparing to the CSM codex. It was a different design team (person) entirely. You can't compare anything to the smoldering heap it has become.

I think Daniel would have been a better choice to receive it in the first place. Apparently it only opens in the "darkest hour" (meaning when handled by an incompetent nimrod) so he could have solved the whole thing straightaway. In the Japanese series there were something like 7 or 8 different matrices by the end, including Decepticon ones.
