Since this is to be my first of hopefully many posts, I figured I would talk a little about myself first.

I have been painting now for a little over 15 years, but never really gave it as much time as I could have mostly due to lack of motivation on my part. Roughly 3 years ago I came across some chaos terminator and a Kharn model that belonged to my then roommate. Since he had purchased those models, but never gotten into the wargaming scene himself I asked him if I could paint them. He graciously gave them away and little did I know that I was not only going to paint these models...

Some friends visited a few weeks later and noticed the models I had painted and inquired about whether or not I played. Both of them respectively owned an Imperial Guard and an Eldar army. I ended up playing a small skirmish with the few chaos figures I had available and hence my addiction began. Over the years I collected somewhere in the vicinity of 8000 or 9000 points of chaos models.

At some point I picked up a box of sister of battle with the idea in mind of converting them to my mostly slaanesh themed army. While I had been enjoying playing with my chaos horde, there came a time when I opened that box of sisters and realized it might be time to try another army rather than convert them.

-------

And from there begins this blog. I am doing this to get some suggestions and tips on improving my painting as well as to keep myself self-motivated. I am so impressed at the painting of other people out there and how a few dedicated weeks and months can make such a huge difference.

After looking for color schemes for awhile I decided to go for the Order of the Bloody Rose. The order itself is fairly young and the opportunities for fluff were interesting.

Considering that most these are WIP, it's picture showing time:

Canoness Amelia - Recently promoted from Palatine after having campaigned along the Dark Angels for a sufficient period of time.

Canoness Jacynth - Also promoted under the same circumstances. Previously held the rank of Veteran Superior of a Seraphim Squad. A role she will sometime step into once again when the need arises.

Sister Helena - First squad leader and big things are expected of her considering how she's named after an adepta sororita heroine.

Sister Clare - Currently under review for promotion to Celestian as part of Canoness Amelia's personal guard. In her last two fights, mock battles against the imperial guard, she lead her squad in a desperate charge against Commissar Yarrick himself and 6 ogryns only to be knocked unconscious after taking down, permanently, the veteran himself and 5 ogryns. In a revenge battle she withstood the charge of two penal legions and a veteran squad for half the fight before being knocked out piling guardsman around herself in the process.

Sister Kate - No remarkable achievements to date.

Sister Cynthia - Currently under penance and assisted by a priest to instill some confidence in the squad after they broke and ran away during a mock battle.

Brother Cornelius and Sister Constance - To ensure that the will of the Emperor be done by his daughters.

Seraphims - St. Celestine accompanies them, albeit she has never been fielded yet as I like playing my games according to fluff and I do not yet feel far enough in my own personal story to bring in the living saint.

Recruits - Either dominions or retributors depending on what the need of the situation is. Unfortunately neither squads have proven enough mettle in battle yet to see a permanent promotion.

Immolator - Unnamed vehicle. This is the third granted to Canoness Amelia as the previous two were wrecked.

Invictus - His name has been a curse to date due to immobilizing himself twice while trying to pass through difficult terrain at the beginning of the fights. Losing his threat potential as gotten him mostly ignored during his last battles and as a result he remains unconquered. **This vehicle was my first attempt at gold NMM and the Dark Angel iconography on it is to help represent the ties my convent has with the chapter in question.**

Dies Irae - Recently provided to Canoness Amelia and undergoing restoration of the hull and weapon system. Hopefully will live to it's name once it sees the field of battle. Also pending assignation of a driver, most likely selected from a promising veteran.

-------

The picture quality might not be the best, but I am hoping for some constructive feedback on what has been painted to date.

Thanks for reading/watching!

Well done on what looks like a promising start for your Sister's of Battle.

I hope you carry on in the same vein as you are now.

good looking army. though I think it's a bit unrealistic that a sergeant (don't know the sisters of battle ecual) would be able to take down yarrick and 5 ogryns.. Jarrick alone is a war hero of uncuntable battles and have stod up against warlod mag uruk thrakka himself.. just sayin.

Aye, I rolled incredibly well on the dice on that fight and my friend unfortunately had no such luck.

I got the assault and won that assault phase by 3 wounds and he lost another ogryn to the fearless rules (failed his saves).
2 assault phases later he was down to 1 ogryn and Yarrick (at 1 wound due to him being targetable in base to base) against my sergeant (all other squad members down for the count).

In the end we knocked each other out at initiative 1 (fist vs eviscerator) and he ended up failing his Iron Will roll on his next turn.

That squad paid for itself many times over that game.

Been awhile since I've done any updates. Other than a few sister and an Immolator, I've been working on a few more models lately.

St-Celestine:

Helena:

She's a little conversion from a sister superior to sport my version of a huge sword.

Inquisitor:

This is a reaper model of sasha dubois. I need to do something about the gloss.. specially considering I used a mat varnish to protect her.

Calidus Assassin:

More to come as I get pictures of sisters and tanks completed.

I love you Celestine, I tried to do mine in a similar style (using NMM) but yours puts it to shame. How did you do the Flesh on the face?

Thanks for the positive comments

The face was:

Black Primer
Tallarn Flesh undercoat
Dwarf Flesh
Elf flesh highlights
Ogryn Flesh wash
Another elf flesh highlight.

Eyes were done by leaving a black area around the eyelids. The ogryn flesh wash helped transition this so it wouldnt look so dark.

Lips are a 1/10 or so ratio of blood red to elf flesh highlighted with a small white dot.

Try to add some white dots and lines on the NMM gold to enhance the reflections even more Other than that I can just say, lovely stuff

I like the history you have built up for each unit, I like to model trophies to remind me of amazing exploits. I have a stormtrooper with a flamer who lasted 3 rounds against 2 genestealers after their respective squads wiped each other out and he has a 'stealer skull and spine modelled onto his base. Every time I see it, it reminds me of his epic battle.

I'm impressed you have managed to remember so much squad history without visual cues!

Oh and nice paint job, are you going with straight blood red on the models? you may want to think of washing them with some devlan mud to give a bit of depth

keep up the good work

Been awhile since I've brough any sort of updates... again, ha!

To answer the last questions about the armor and I do apologize for not answering sooner:

Black Primer,
Basecoat of bestial brown
snakebite leather
bubonic brown
bleached bone

Gold does not quite light up to white when exposed to direct light so I find that bleached bone makes a decent last touch.

I did some work on Canoness Jacynth lately, actually finishing her transition to full Canoness.

I've also decided to start a blog of my own where I will keep more images posted and hopefully get some battle reports done. I am still learning how most of it actually works.
