I've been thinking.

SP1: chronus must be in a tank
SP2: my tanks is NOT ultra's.
SP3: Chronus is an marsadept
Ass: because he is a marsadept, he doesn't need to be in one particular Paint job

Thoughts?

Also:

If I have shrike, and I paint him Ravenguard, can I paint the rest of my army elsewise.

ALSO

Do special captains get command squads?

-no note in their entries.-

You can use special characters and their rules as counts as for your particular army of choice

Chronus, instead of Blue Marines he is now a Red Marine

As for Shrike you 'could' do this paint him up a as raven guard and have your marines as a different army/colour scheme, again use him as counts as for your intended army keeping his special rules and stats?

If you want to try special rules and characters out there shouldn't be a problem.

Is this what you are asking?

Command Squads: the entry for Command Squads will tell you which HQ you take unlocks them, not the specific HQ.

You can paint Shrike Ravenguard and have another paint scheme for the rest of your army.
Legal, it just looks sort of wierd.
You might get points taken off soft scores like painting if the army isn't unified, unless you had some sort of fluff you made people read before judging.

Otherwise, it's all up to you really.
Painting really doesn't have any bearing on the rules, unless there are house rules present about them.

This is a little story about four people named Everybody, Somebody, Anybody, and Nobody.
There was an important job to be done and Everybody was sure that Somebody would do it.
Anybody could have done it, but Nobody did it.
Somebody got angry about that because it was Everybody's job.
Everybody thought that Anybody could do it, but Nobody realized that Everybody wouldn't do it.
It ended up that Everybody blamed Somebody when Nobody did what Anybody could have done.

You can only give an Honour Guard to those Captains which it specifically states you can. Yes, this means that the Forgefather, who has given up the duties of a captain, does not get this benefit....

Correction, you can only give an Honour Guard to those CHAPTER MASTERS which it specifically states you can and Command Squads to the captains.

Vulkan He'stan, being neither, cannot take a Command Squad nor a Honour Guard.

Once upon a time, GW mentioned 'Crusade Armies' as a way of combining different Chapters in one army. The army would be representing a strike force drawn from several different Chapters involved in a Crusade.

It can look a little odd just having one character from a different Chapter in there, but you could always paint up a squad to go in there with him. Or just paint him up in the same scheme as the rest of your army and use him as a not-Shrike.
