Do you get the -1 to hit if you use a brace of pistols?

-1 for what?

Unless it has the multiple shots rule associated with it you do not get the -1 for taking more than 1 shot.

A brace of pistols has "multiple shots x2" if memory serves. This is because it counts as you firing a single weapon - which is useful, as otherwise you could only fire one...

With a brace of pistols (or any other Multiple Shot weapon) you have 2 options.

1. Fire one shot without a -1 to hit penalty
2. Fire the number of Multiple Shots it has (brace of pistols has 2) with a -1 to hit penalty.

To ask a similar question along this topic (sorry for thread jack) for my personal clarification:

A Pistolier champion with a Repeater Pistol and a regular pistol counts as having 4x multiple shots - is the -1 penalty for multiple shots cumulative for each additional shot (ie -3) or just -1 for being multiple shots? (I thought this issue was somewhat murky).

Thanks in advance.

The book says items with the multiple shot rule have the option of shooting once or shooting multiple times. Should you choose to shoot multiple times, there is a -1 to hit penalty. Granted it uses a Repeater Crossbow as its example, so only Multi x2, I don't think I would read that as cumulative -1 to hit per extra shot, you would just take the -1 and be done.

Especially in your example, taking cumulative penalties to hit would be very awkward since you can't choose to shoot more than once but also less than your full alotment of shots (ie, you can't shoot twice or thrice on a Multix4 ranged weapon). I would only ever take a -1 penalty for choosing to use multi-shots, not -1 per extra shot.

Kirbinator is correct. Any number of shots over 1 suffers a -1 to hit penalty. Which is to say, it doesn't matter how many multiple shots you get, it's still just a -1.

Sweet. I thought it seemed rather crappy to take the 4 shots then. Again, the wording of the rules (plus example) was left mildly ambiguous to me. Thanks for the clarification.
