Hey all whats the best way to use the Tau pathfinders and their markerlights. Do other units benifit from them or just themselves etc...
Any thoughts would be great. And yes i'm now to the Tau so gathering all my tactics from you all. Thanks for the info.

Any thing that can happen will happen badly....

Pathfinder markerlights can provide markerlight support for other units. As in they can fire markerlights at the Enemy and Squad A of Firewarriors could use those markerlights.

Pathfinders are very effective, yet they usually are targeted by more experienced players because of this effectivness. They will most likely die or run off the table at turn 2-3. again, if they target them.

You can also use their mandatory devilfish as a transport for one of your FW squads. Just drop the Pathfinders off on the 1st turn and put the FWs in. Saves a good 80 points.

If you want more markerlight support for a mobile tau army you can go with a Stealth Team w/ a team leader with a drone controller and marker drones. However, for their points, pathfinders are more effective.

Hope these are good!

P.S. remember that markerlights also can reduce coversaves, Highten BS, and Lower Ld of the enemy for pinning tests!

The best thing about this particular signature is that by the time you realise it doesn't say anything it's far too late to stop reading it.

I have been adding Marker Drones to Crisis Squads by hardwiring a drone controller to the Shas'vre squad leader and adding a Marker drone. This gives the Marker Drone the Relentless rule which gives you a great JSJ ability with your Crisis Suits to light up targets then jump away from the assault. This can get pricey but Markerlights are a great Force multiplier and can really aggrivate opponents when your BS3 Crisis Suits\Firewarriors are suddenly BS5 and are hitting with everything they shoot.....

I have not used any Pathfinders for the simple reason of their fragileness and the fact that hey have to be exposed to do their work.

Also think about bringing a Skyray to the battle. They have two Networked Markerlights (so they can use their own marker hits) and 6 powerful Seeker missiles.

With the above additions\selections i can get 3-5 Markerlight shots per turn.

I do not discriminate....all races are equally worthless....
