So this weeks Planetary Empires campaign game was against a player with far few tiles than me (which is why he was up on me by 150pts, it would have been 200 if it wasn't for my manufactorum). This week the base game size was 1750 so I decided to pull out Mammon to lead my forces.

Mission: objectives (3)
Deployment: Pitched Battle

He wins the roll off and graciously gives me the first turn. The iron hands deploy in breadth filling one side of his deployment zone.

The iron hands deploy

So his deployment for facing daemons wasn't too bad. He knows I have flamers in my list so the only thing I would have done differently was not pack the vehicles in so tight, there's no reason for the razorbacks and typhoons to be that close to the dreadnaughts, but as you will see with my rolls it didn't make much of a difference.

Turn 1: Daemons
So I pick as my first wave, the great unclean one, 3 daemon princes, and 2 plague bearers, the idea is to drop in assault the tactical squads that are in the open with plague bearers and send the unclean one and daemon princes into the dreadnaughts. But it is not to be, I get the other half.

I attempt to drop Mammon on the side of some tac marines away from a pile of 3 dreadnaughts. I instead roll an 9 and land right in front of them. One unit of flamers deviates into the very same dreadnaught pack and goes back into reservers. The other flamers that were trying to get to the other clump of vehicles deviates back about 6 inch's, both blight drones deviate around but it doesnt really affect them, the only hit for the round was the plague bearers, yay plague bearers! Mammon kills 3 tac marines, who pass their morale, the flamers take 3 shots at a dread but fail to glance, they do manage to strip the typhoon launcher off of one of the speeders. Both blight drones throw out pie plates killing one marine in cover.
KP Daemons: 0 Iron Hands: 0
Objectives Daemons: 0 Iron Hands: 1

Turn 1: Iron Hands
The iron hands slowly advance. The librarian pops null zone. Lots of shooting ensues, the three flamers die, 3 of the plague bearers die, and Mammon takes 4 wounds (I don't know why but it seems like the last wound on a great unclean one or daemon prince, seems hard to get). 2 Iron clads and a regular dreadnaught charge Mammon to try to take him out. I allocate out my attacks 1, 1, 2. I hit the regular dreadnaught, get a pen and immobilize him. Okay good start I think to myself. Roll my one attack on the ironclade, hit, wrecked, wow, sweet. Roll my last 2 attacks on the last iron clad, 2 hits, 2 pens, wrecked iron clad. So right there Mammon made up his points plus some. The last dreadnaught swings and hit's and Mammon can't make his 5++ and goes down.
KP Daemons: 2 Iron Hands: 2
Objectives Daemons: 0 Iron Hands: 1

** I wouldn't have charged the dreadnaughts into Mammon. His higher initiative (which I told my opponent about before he charged) gave me the free whacks. Of course I rolled REALLY well, but stuff like that happens every now and then. If he had just waited until my turn at most he would have lost one dreadnaught and then he could have finished it off on his next turn.

Turn 2: Daemons
I get a good reserves roll getting in all 3 daemon princes and 2 plague bearer squads. One plague bearer attempts to come in near the objective on my side and they deviate back 11. I try to deep strike in near the center objective and they deviate 6 towards the iron hands lines. I finally get some hits on 2 of the princes who come down behind some blocking terrain. The third deviates way off base out into the open. I immobilize and rip off the typhoon launcher off of one of the speeders with my two blight drones. The plague bearers try to get away from the advancing dreadnaughts, but get 2's for movement (the ones that dropped round 1) and 1's for their run's, so neither squad is going anywhere. The far back squad begins the long run towards my objective.
KP Daemons: 2 Iron Hands: 2
Objectives Daemons: 1 Iron Hands: 1

Turn 2, sorry for the blurry pic but it's the only one I have of the early game

Turn 2: Iron Hands
With the daemon princes fairly well hidden they pass all their armor saves (from all the heavy bolters) and the few cover saves they need to make, he takes some shots into the blight drones and the plague bearers, immobilizing and shaking one drone, and killing 2 plague bearers. An ironclad assaults the big squad of plague bearers, his other dreadnaught assault's the little squad, the ironclad whiffs it only killing one, and his other dreadnaught hits all 3 and I fail all my saves, thus wiping the squad.
KP Daemons: 2 Iron Hands: 3
Objectives Daemons: 0 Iron Hands: 1

Turn 3: Daemons
I get in my Great Unclean One and the flamers. The flamers deep strike in next to an exposed squad, deviate back 3 inch's and then proceed to roll 9 hits getting one 4, so they kill a grand total of 1 marine. The great unclean one lands on target next to the plaguebearers locked in hth with the ironclad. One daemon prince goes after a razorback and fails to do anything. The next daemon prince goes after the librarians razorback, blowing it up and killing 3 of the marines. The third daemon prince assaults his dreadnaught and rips it up. The ironclad whiffs in hth again and I only lose 2 plague bearers (I didn't remember until after the game that null zone ends at the end of the players turn, don't really think it affected much, it might have saved maybe 1-2 plaguebearers).
KP Daemons: 4 Iron Hands: 3
Objectives Daemons: 0 Iron Hands: 0

Turn 3: Iron Hands
He shuffles around and starts moving a razorback up the flank towards my objective. His dread multi-melta's and explodes the immobilized blight drone. The ironclad continues to squish plague bearers, and he gets 2 wounds and 3 wounds on my daemon princes. He bolt pistols and assaults the flamers, the combat is a push.
KP Daemons: 4 Iron Hands: 4
Objectives Daemons: 0 Iron Hands: 0

Turn 4: Daemons
My back plague bearers make it to my objective, yay! The great unclean one assaults and wrecks the ironclad, but not before the ironclade gets the plague bearers down to one model. A daemon prince assaults and kills the dreadnaught that killed off the blight drone. One daemon prince assaults the librarian's squad killing the librarian (he falls back with the squad). The other daemon prince jumps into a 5 man tac squad killing 3 they voluntarily flee, and get away (so much for that initiative 5 on dp's, they apparently have been too nurglized ). He kills off the flamers in hth.
KP Daemons: 7 Iron Hands: 5
Objectives Daemons: 1 Iron Hands: 1

Turn 4

Turn 4: Iron Hands
One falling back squad runs off the board, the other squad nears the board edge but doesnt run away so it will rally next turn. His shooting fails to down either daemon prince. He finally gets the master of the forge far enough away from a blight drone to get the strength 10 shot, hits, and rolls a 1 (up to now the master of the forge hasn't killed a single thing). His razorbacks start racing forward to grab objectives.
KP Daemons: 7 Iron Hands: 6
Objectives Daemons: 0 Iron Hands: 1

Turn 5: Daemons
My daemon prince assaults his razorback thats on the objective on my side and whiffs, the great unclean one assaults the razorback contesting the center objective wrecking it and killing 2 marines. The center daemon prince takes down a land speeder. The last daemon prince assaults 2 tac marines and kills them.
KP Daemons: 10 Iron Hands: 6
Objectives Daemons: 0 Iron Hands: 0

Turn 5 Iron Hands
He downs the other daemon prince and puts a wound on the great unclean one, he kills off my 1 plague bearer holding the center objective.
KP Daemons: 10 Iron Hands: 8
Objectives Daemons: 0 Iron Hands: 0

Turn 5

The dice god's say the game continues.

Turn 6 Daemons
I surround the razorback with plague bearers, and assault with my daemon prince who wrecks it, but the squad inside passes their morale check. My blight drone shoots and kills 2 marines that were going to make a run for the open objective. The great unclean one assaults and kills 2 of the marines on the center objective staying locked in hth with the last one.
KP Daemons: 13 Iron Hands: 8
Objectives Daemons: 0 Iron Hands: 0

Turn 6 Iron Hands
He shoots and assaults my 4 plague bearers with his 4 tac marines, I fail every save i try to make and he eliminates the squad. The master of the forge finally hits and downs the last blight drone. His last tac squad starts to try and make a run for the open objective, they don't make it this turn but they will if we go to turn 7. The great unclean one kills off the last tac squad marine in the center and consolidates 6 towards the objective the marines are running for.
KP Daemons: 14 Iron Hands: 10
Objectives Daemons: 0 Iron Hands: 0

Turn 6

And the game end's. We played another round just for the hell of it, the daemon prince killed off the tac squad on my objective, the great unclean one was able to contest the other objective to force the tie. At the end of the game I had a great unclean one with 3 wounds left, and an unwounded daemon prince. He had the master of the forge, an immobilized typhoon, an untouched typhoon and 3 tac marines. A nice bloody battle!

Turn 7: The aftermath

Great game, and it definitely went back and forth, my inital salvo of 2 flamers and 2 blight drones really failed to do anything, but then Mammon taking out the dreads by himself put me back in the game, it definitly went back and forth. I would like to see what he takes out to get his list down to an even points fight and duke it out again! Thanks for reading.

Indeed, twas a good battle. Crappy/ridiculous rolling at key points on both our parts, but so it goes! You should mention that a campaign special rule let you give your GUO Fleet too. Not a huge effect, but it was there.

Next week the campaign's at 1850, so I'm thinking of running this:
MotF, Beamer
Lib w/Null Zone, Avenger
Dread, MM x3
Tac squad, ml/flamer, HB Razor x3
2 Typhoon
Speeder, MM/HF
Ironclad melta/heavy flamer x3

Comes to 1850. Gives me psychic defense and Null Zone and one extra multimelta, but at the cost of a typhoon missile.

Cheers for the report, and well played out with loads of carnage to be had. I had half-figured the demons were going to have an uphill battle against all that fire and armor, but they stomped it out pretty decently

You don't need to post anything specific, but what are Mammon's rules like? Never seen them, and I also didn't think he was so big - the metal GUO looks like a mere oversized nurgling next to him!

@Boss_salvage: Mammon is a bit odd. You basically take the nurgle daemon prince profile, add in a great unclean ones wounds, strength and bump the toughness by another point. Then add in noxious touch, slow and purposeful, and feel no pain. The huge tank on his back and the tri-barrel are an ap3 flamer template that wounds on a 2+, strength 1.

@Bloodhorror: It has the armor of a devilfish, but it's a fast skimmer, and it's weapon options are pretty close to what the stock defiler get's with some tweaks, however it has a worse bs than the defiler does.

This bat rep involves Blight Drones.
It is full of epic win already.

And that's before I've read it...
___________-

Sweet game, for better and for worse the Blights didn't do anything much, but looking sexy is enough .
I like your army alot, and the plague flies are really plague flies.

I look forward to seeing your army in action more often.

This is a little story about four people named Everybody, Somebody, Anybody, and Nobody.
There was an important job to be done and Everybody was sure that Somebody would do it.
Anybody could have done it, but Nobody did it.
Somebody got angry about that because it was Everybody's job.
Everybody thought that Anybody could do it, but Nobody realized that Everybody wouldn't do it.
It ended up that Everybody blamed Somebody when Nobody did what Anybody could have done.

Great battle. Are there any official rules for blight drones?

You could do with getting the focus a bit better on your pictures next time but other than that good game and report.

Real unlucky with your deep strike, but thats how daemons play I guess. Chaos makes them unstable

@Sanctjud: The blight drones never seem to do a ton, but they help, and it forces people to not just run all over the place, the pie plates scare meqs, and the flamer on them scare's everyone else , it also adds another target into the list that you need big strength weapons to down, thus providing a little more protection to the deaemon princes and great unclean ones.

@The Acolyte: Unfortunately there's nothing official, just the forgeworld rules. I always bring an alternate list to games with me in case someone doesn't want to play against my forgeworld models. Yeah I take the pictures with my iphone, sometimes they come out great, and sometimes they don't. I think I need to work on keeping my hands steadier while taking the shots. Ehh, luck comes in waves, you just hope it evens out in the end!
