Some of you may have seen my Legion of the Damned Army that I am starting over in the P/M blogs section. I took a look at the Space Marine codex and I finally made an army list to go along with it.

Please give your comments/criticism because I have no idea how competitive it will be:

HQ
Captain Lysander – 200
Command Squad – 5 Marines, 4 Lightning Claws, 4 Storm Shields, Drop Pod, Locator Beacon – 280

Troops
Tactical Squad – 10 Marines, Meltagun, Multi-Melta, Drop Pod, Locator Beacon - 220
Tactical Squad – 10 Marines, Meltagun, Multi-Melta, Drop Pod, Locator Beacon - 220

Fast Attack
Vanguard Veterans – 10 Veterans, 10 Jump Packs, 10 Storm Shields, 1 Power Fist, 10 Lightning Claws – 635

I know the vanguard are quite expensive and usually a mediocre unit, but this is a unit I have wanted to make because I like the rules and I will be converting jump pack legion of the damned models to go with it. I would really appreciate any critique of the list.

Woah! I didn't realise that Vanguard could get so pricey...

There's no need to take a LC with the vanguard sergeant as he wouldn't be able to utilise it with his PF... It may be worth cutting this unit down in size, to keep the points in the sanity bracket. - Currently it's worth 5 TH/SS termies in a LR with supporting dakka pred and landspeeder...

I might take a flamer and M/L in one of the Tac squads, just in case you play a non-mech force...

If you want a totally deep striking army; then perhaps you could trim down the vanguard and include some Land speeders or dreads in pods, this should up the survivability of your army (And give you some wicked modelling projects... LotD dread/speeders!)

I think that you will have some problems with this list against Meq. Once your vanguard qnd command sqauds are tied up in combat, you'll only have your four tactical squads left to take other targets. A canny opponent will make use of this to sacrifice low cost units to your assault units and then take advantage of your tac squads. I'd recommend splitting the vanguard in two. More flexiblity and the opponent needs more squads to tie all of them down.

I'd also get some plasma in your list but that's my opinion
