Hey everyone. This is my first post on dakka for a while and was I wondering what anyone thought about Repentia. I've heard a lot of the bad stuff, but was wondering if anyone had anything good to say. To me they look like some of the coolest models out there, but tactically, a squad full of tank bashing Eviscerators sounds pretty good for CC. And, their armour isn't terrible, better than that of Orks at least. Has anyone here had any good experiences with this unit?

I have not used them. At last in attack order of initiative and with their guard equivalent toughness I just can imagine that they will take a significant punch before being able to do any noteworthy damage - which is okay and all - but at their point cost? I dunno.. I am just leery.

I would have considered at least trying them but then once you get past all of their game play shortcomings they are also heavy pewter and have a nasty price tag.

I have run them, in `fun' lists. They are as bad as they look. An extremely squishy unit that swings last at low WS with a single lousy attack that you pay an obscene amount of points for. Orks work because they are T4, 6 points, you take 30 of them, and there is a Nob in the unit. For that cost, you can take 10 Repentia who are individually inferior to a Boy. Apparently they were originally supposed to have Terminator Armour, but that was cut as a last minute change and they never playtested the revised entry. It shows. They are worthless in assault, but *would* be good at taking out a vehicle. That is where their lack of a transport option, lack of Fleet, and random Holy Rage completely screws them over. They will only reach a vehicle if your opponent is really, really stupid.

40K players often measure the badness of a unit by comparing it with other awful units. We have Flash Gits and Possessed as a usual yard stick, but Repentia are a whole level of awful well below those `almost-good' units.

They are one of the worst units in 40k. Stay far, far away from them. With t3 and 4+ armour, they will never survive to swing their weapons...

The basic rules that was lost ignored with Repentia is that CC troops MUST have a base of at least 2 attacks to be worthwhile.

I have used them. It was a squad of 10 with a priest attached. The priest had an evicerator as well.

They are a really fun unit. They aren't really what you would call a great unit. 5th did help them a little as they can now run when there isn't a target to charge in range.

Single attack, I1. Anything with more than 1 attack is going to rip them up.
Now if you had Creed in the list and they were outflanking that might be fun...

I used a 16ish girl size in my SM biker list for kicks.
They are a very characterful and I would say fun unit to use.

They were a big threat for my opponent who was a bit dread heavy 4-5 Dreads (Master of the Forge).
So they absorbed alot of shooting esp. when going to ground and then failing morale to run forward and break out of going to ground.

They have variable movement values, but can be crazy fast.

I guess it's just, if you can live with the oppurtunity cost and just want a fling with the Sisters, they are fun to use... they are not overly great, but they have targets that piss in their pants.

This is a little story about four people named Everybody, Somebody, Anybody, and Nobody.
There was an important job to be done and Everybody was sure that Somebody would do it.
Anybody could have done it, but Nobody did it.
Somebody got angry about that because it was Everybody's job.
Everybody thought that Anybody could do it, but Nobody realized that Everybody wouldn't do it.
It ended up that Everybody blamed Somebody when Nobody did what Anybody could have done.

the only time I've ever seen them used for anything more than a horrible point sink was in a creed list. Basically Creed gave a 10 girl squad outflank and used them to kill tanks. They actually preformed decently and managed to take out 2 dakka preds in a multiple assault. But even that success was short lived.

Yea, they really are that bad. I used to run nearly 16 of them with a priest because I loved the models. They were just terrible, getting taken out by any model with anti infantry to spare. Even when they get into melee, they can be taken out by firewarriors. Seriously.

At anyrate, they really need 2 attacks, Str4(8), invulnerable save, swing at I4 on the charge, or a 5-10 point price decrease. Really, any 2 of those would probably do the trick. They seem to suffer from the same issue as a lot of the old Inquisition codex units do: a bunch of abilities that are worth 2-5 points or so each, but not with 10-20 all together.
