So looking at the stir the Tervigon has caused, I can't help but wonder if this will be a continued theme in future codex.
From a business stand point, it seems like a good idea. it sells a new model (or two existing models to kitbash) and causes a need to buy loads of a smaller model, all without needing to lower the points of a unit or adjust the FoC. This is especially important as some armies can't have their points lowered much more.
The problem would be making it fit in with each army and be worthwhile. Tervigons work, in part, because they create scoring units.
I could easily see an ork weirdboy or maybe squig type thing that would cause dormant ork spores to accelerate into full blown grots.
But for the Tau it would more likely be a machine that spawned gun drones, which is significantly less attractive because they are not scoring.
Fluff wise, I think the tervigon style system really belongs in the Nid codex alone, but I wouldn't be surprised if it started migrating to other armies.

I can't really imagine anything like that for IG. Or GK, SoB or Marines.

Easily done with the Tomb Spyder. Instead of the scarabs joining, they go off on their own. Oh god that would be great....

Really EF? In your propaganda soaked mind you've already forgotten about things like 'Send in the next wave?'. It wouldn't be a leap from that to, say, a vehicle with a homer for parachuting Conscripts.

Great minds think alike, Endova.
And so do we.
Also, did you hear the one about the Tau commander that spilled the Ork's drink?
He got thrown Endova end!

What about them?
Someone already mentioned a tomb spyder pooping out scarabs. But I could also see giving Monoliths the ability to spawn some more terminator wannabes.

If I had to guess, I’d say the Trigon mechanic will be added to the Monolith to replace the mechanic that allows players to re-roll failed WBB. I’m fairly convinced that WBB will be replaced with FNP and re-rolling FNP via through the use of the Monolith doesn’t really work very well.
Likewise, I’d say Tomb Spiders will get a similar mechanic to create scarabs.
If I’m really really luck, Eldar will eventually get a new Bonesinger unit and have a mechanic that allows them to create spiritstone driven weapons platforms.
I can certainly see this mechanic being given to some sort of Tau “drone generator” as well.

Re: Tau the concept of a drone harbinger is cool. I have buttloads of drones that I've yet to paint.
Maybe if they made drones troops, since they are equally as fast as XV8 suits anyways. Maybe GW would add heavy drones squads to fast attack to fill the gap.

Interesting idea. I didn't even think about the fact, that the Tervigon spits out scoring units. That could save your butt in a few games.
How about a mobile recruting station for guard which spits out hordes of concsripts.
I think it would make sense for Tau with some sort of Drone creator but I don't see drones becoming troops. Why should they be scoring? It doesn't make much sense.

I think units/characters/monsters that create scoring units are a good idea, effective on the battlefield and open up some good tactical opportunities.
True, there are some armies i can't see it working for (e.g. IG) but I'd quite like to see more of it.
