So, I got a Landspeeder Storm the other day, and I finished assembling it today. 20 minutes later, I caught my self waving the thing around in the air, complete with "woosh" and "freem" (even though its armed with a multi-melta...) sounds effects.

Does anyone else have any stories of using our "over-priced tabletop scale wargaming miniatures" as toys, or did I just eat to much lead paint as a kid?

Anyways. I can't say I've had any though when my brother's friends come over they'll often say how much fun they'd have if the limbs moved... It made me wanna slap em too! Don't tell me my toys are toys... I mean.

it's just a reaction people have sometimes. Really, they are 1 inch tall minis. You dont need a lot of imagination to pick them up and start playing with them and carrying through the air making gun noises

I make explosion sounds for my Vindicator hence my username...other than that i think you may have eaten to much lead paint and rogue trader models!

Every modeller, regardless of age, has done that with an Airfix kit.

I did the exact same thing when i made my landspeeder, Wooshing and Swooping, no gun noises tho, i didnt stick it on yet

should i be ashamed of my self?

I catch myself constantly making "whoosh" and dakka sounds after I complete any Land Speeder or Bike.

For awhile my friend's kid's favorite toy to "fly" around the house was one of his Devil Fishes.

On a related note, when I went in to UPS the other day to get a price quite on shipping a fig somewhere, she asked me what was in the box. I paused for a moment, and said toys. I figured it's close enough to the truth, and FAR easier to explain.

My fiancee will tell you it drives her crazy that I quote "we are sphes mehrens" every time I paint a blood raven.

Though as much as I try to explain against it she insists on giving a rooooooar-ing battle cry when she advances...her necrons.

And we both veroom veroom the land speeders.

Now I have visions of Luke Sky walker in his garage playing with his air speeder. (ack I can't believe I forgot the name of the air speeder)

I do the Pwee Pwee noises as well and cllllkkkkt clllkkkkttttt, sssskkkttttt skkkkkttttt noises form my 'Nids.

Nothing beats making gun noises and shaking my heavy bolter havoc

My first Thunderbolt got "flown" around when it was assembled

Also.. i got a friend at our LFGS who constantly plays with our models like he was 5. It's pretty funny.

Oh good. It's so reassuring to know I'm not a crazy person. I'm totally looking forward to the Blood Angels Tantalus lander both for its rumored game abilities, and because I want another toy spaceship to play with.

On an unrelated note, I'd totally be interested in buying a high quality Space Marine Action figure. Not like, a $10 G.I. Joe. I mean those hyper-detailed, accurate ones.

I think of them as dolls.

I've got a plush Chest Burster, no Facehugger however.

The head crab hat is a fun one.

I will never stop making titan noises. If someone makes fun of it, its on. Now all I need to do is finish it...

Haha, I did the exact same thing with my first deffkopta. And occasionally I speak in robot voice (DoW style) when I have my dreadnought nearby

I had finished painting my ork trukk and decided to show it to my friend. She picked it up and basically the conversation went like this;

"Wow, vroom VROOM!"
"It's not a damn toy!"
"Awww"
"Fine, Ill get you a damn Tonka truck"
"Yay"

I have a converted battlewagon made from a small-ish stripped down plastic toy truck. Ii converted it to the extent where it is unrecognizable as a toy, but I made a small mistake that always gives it away.

I left a sound chip, attatched to the wheels, inside.

Now, whenever I go to move the thing, the wheels roll and make a very satisfying VROOM-diggidy-diggidy-diggdy...

It is my favourite battlewagon...

I think everyone who has ever handeled a vendetta has had this moment.

Two things I catch myself doing every time I use certain models:

Imitating that generic B movie spider sound for my talos whenever it moves across the field.

Singing, "Get your motors running..." when my bikes move.

I rotated the turret at my friends' minis and made "Kaboom" noises after I built my first Russ.

You're a crazy person who came for reassurance to a forum full of crazy people.

I lurked my Stealth Suits in my daughter's dolls' house.

My girlfriend will often pick up minis off my desk and make "pew pew" shooting noises.
I don't mind it to much as I give her gak concerning the OTT dialouge in the anime she watches.
