Thats it. I hope ypu can make sense of my jargon. I have never played a game before and I put this together using the BT codex and reading all of your diffferent posts. I think its a pretty good list. with some decent anti tank comming from the dread and razorback. Obviosly somebody is going to have to walk but i'm out of points. I know the Assult termies will go with the chaplin and I know that is super exspensive with a LRC! but if they didn't want me to use Assult terminators FW souldn't have made those awesome shields. I also didn't use any neophytes casue the models suck. I know they are good at sucking up losses but...
This list is also a little high so I have to loose one or two things.
The tech marine? (i thought he would be good to service those dreads)
The marshal? ( i don't really need an extra HQ but was looking forward to converting a special character)
other thoughts:
****What are CC weapons? are they only chainswords and knifes, or can my models initiates have normal swords and axes (are those power weapons?)
*****Can neophytes have chain swords or just kinifes? are both considered CC weapons
****where do I find the point cost for furious charge. I see that mentioned everywhere but don't know how to add the points or waht it does?
***How come Drop pods or homers aren't any good for terminator assults squads? I would much rather pay 30 pts for a drop pod than 265 for a LRC to go with them.
***do you think meltas or plasmas would be better with my bikers than power weapons? maybe get some extra firepower
***would a chaplin be better with my assult squad than my terminator squad?
please don't tell me to loose the assult termies for normal ones i already have them put together. I guess i could break off the arms and magnatize them
Thanks to anyone who can help me out. I will email you a beer. I am really looking forward to finishing my army and getting to throw down.

Okay, i'm not familiar with the BT codex, but here are some basic SM pointers.
I think you may have one HQ choice too many, so you'll need to decide who to keep. Look out for the FOC page in your codex.
Drop the techmarine, in my opinion not a good elite choice... And you already have three other elite choices anyway. (FOC!)
You also need more troops. So think about another crusader/neophyte squad. Usually, try and keep one troop choice per 500pts. Also, - Transports, transports, transports. For Marines in 5th ed. it is pretty vital to get a Rhino/Razorback per squad.
The 5 man assault squad is too small, so i'd drop it; put the points towards more troop choices.
Keep the termies as assault; they are one of the best units around.
Furious charge is a universal rule, it'll be listed in your rulebook. - It's pretty nice in assault!
Terminators are too big for drop pods. A Land Raider is a neccessity.
Melta is good for anti-tank; plasma is good vs MEQ's. Your list will need more anti-tank if it is to be effective.
Lastly, re-read your codex, then the rulebook, then read them again! - The answers to a lot of your questions can be found there!

i think that you can drop the master of sanctity down to a reclusiarch to save points. you only lose one wound and with the marshal everyone uses his 10 ld. as for the emperor's champion vow i would take the accept any challenge. in close combat your troops will count all opponents as preferred enemies....allowing re-rolls to hit. then with that vow you can take away the master crafted weapon on the marshal and spend it on something else....i like to go with a pair of lightning claws cause you get to re-roll wounds with that.
put your troops in transports. rhinos mainly with smoke launchers(all hits are glancing hits with ours).....the protection and speed are what you need for them.
for the termies you might want to throw in some lightning claws for the extra attacks and re-rolls to wound.
i haven't really played with the tech much but for now i would take him out.
the assault squad at that size is mainly a suicide squad from my experience. either they tie up a squad for a few rounds or give them melta-bombs and go tank hunting.
and what goes in the razorback. is it just there for the anti-tank.
keep the bikers with power weapons. maybe exchange one for a meltagun.
i like to mix the chaplin in with assault marines at times.....the extra power weapon attacks help out the small squad size. i don't usually play with all three HQs...sometimes i like to take two marshals.....very fun and if one dies you still have a back up marshal for the shared 10 ld.

I'd start by making your chaplain a jet pack chap and stick him with your assault squad.
I'd drop the bike squad, but reinforce your assault squad closer to ten.
I'd then add rhinos with smoke to all of your crusader squads.
I'd drop one dreadnought, the razorback, and the techmarine in order to add another crusader squad of nine marines to stick your champion with (also in a razorback).
I'd also replace some of your thunder hammers with lightning claws. The extra attacks really help. If you can massage a six man bolter squad in the list too, that wouldn't hurt.
That way you would have your same three hqs, four scoring troops (3 cc squads and one small bolter squad), a dreadnought for fire support, a highly mobile assault squad that packs a good punch, and your heavy hitting LRC and assault terminators. I run something similar, but without the chaplain, and I use a trilas predator for my fire support.
Do you like the forgeworld shields? I've wondered if they were worth it myself...
Good luck with your templar list!

That seems the way a templar list really should look.
3 crusader squads with transport.
more men in the assault squad so they don't get crushed but I can't loose the bikes so I’ll have to find the points else where
and everyone wants me to use some lightning claws
also the techmarine is point heavy and doesn't do much, an easy place to find the points for my third crusader squad
Sucks losing the dread (his conversions are pretty tight) but oh well.
and my only finished character was the terminator Chaplin :(
and yes I like the FW shields a lot. So much so that I’m starting this BT army. This is my second set. My first set I attempted to make into shields for my ultras and failed horribly.
I will get an second list up shortly and see what that looks like point wise
THANKS

Ok. Simple tip. Start with small games. Don't go straight for a 2,000 point army. You should start with a 1,000 point army. If you have fewer units to control you will be able to spend more time controlling each individual unit. You won't get overwhelmed with the amount of units to take into account on both your side and the other side.
