Drone without a Controller

Here is may latest WIP for my Tau army. I am just waiting for it to fully dry so I can begin priming and painting. The gun mounts are magnetic so I can put any weapon I want on them. Originally I was going to mount a skyray turret in place of the blue disc but couldn't find all the parts in my bits box. Oh well, just gives me an excuse to order some more bits next time around.

I think an ion cannon would be perfect for the top.

Six mistakes mankind keeps making century after century: Believing that personal gain is made by crushing others; Worrying about things that cannot be changed or corrected; Insisting that a thing is impossible because we cannot accomplish it; Refusing to set aside trivial preferences; Neglecting development and refinement of the mind; Attempting to compel others to believe and live as we do |

95% of teens would go into a panic attack if the jonas brothers were about to jump off the empire state building, copy and paste this if you are the 5% who would pull up a lawn chair & grab some popcorn and yell JUMP!!!!!
Inquiring minds want to know: Do cos-players carry a costume version of the emergency roadside kit we all have in our cars?
92% of teens have moved on to rap. If you are one of the 8% who still listen to real music, copy and paste this into your sig. |

Nice work.
The weapons look a little tacked on... could have used a bit more of a mounting for them. Actually, a sliding mount that allows them to move around the outer wall would have been ideal...
It's definitely Tau, though. Good use of bits to Tau it up without making it too busy.

Agreat piece that definitely has tht Tau feel. The only thing that detracts from the overall look is the sloppy wash appliation that left those unsightly drips, etc. Clean that up and it will look much better...

Given that most of it isn't washed, I would suspect that the drips are deliberate, to look like water run-off stains.

Nice stuff... very tau and very cleanly done.
I'll agree with Insaniak that sliding mounts for the burst cannons would have been cool, but it still makes an awfully nice piece of terrain, especially for planetstrike.

I know what they are supposed to be. However they are out of scale and as a result look like spills.
Have you ever seen a water droplet as big as your torso running down something?
Think about how big rain drops or what not are and how liquids flows. These drips look wrong for the scale of the piece they are a part of.
Right now they look like someone spilled a coffee on the piece and didnt clean it up.
To the OP: The internet can be used to find pics of realistic staining and drip marks left by dripping fluids.
Other than the drips the piece is very flavorful and well done, but the devil is in the details, and little things like this can make or break a piece.

Nice work on the terrain piece but I agree with CT Gamer that the runoff stains don't look right.

No... but I've seen water pooling on a roof and then running down the wall, taking accumulated dirt and dust with it...
It's not a perfect representation of that, but looks good enough to me.
