In the "Dawn of War" novels Captains Gabriel does some recounting of his chapters high population of Librarians. He boasts that the first company ((i think, i need to get my novel... but its in my wife car..anyways)) has a full combat unit of Librarians. *jaw drops* seriously a FULL COMBAT unit!!
So this brought on some thought. How would you field such a unit? using standard SM 'Dex, it starts off at 1000pts for ten Librarians. So i think we need to kick in some Blood Ravens special rules.

1. Due to such a high population of librarians they cost 40-50pts? and only get to pick ONE power each. And all the same equipment is available. ((this applies only to THIS squad)) though they can not be upgraded to Epist.

2. The 'leader' HQ Librarian follows the standard rules outta the 'Dex, except due to the Blood Ravens extesive knowledge, the Epist upgrade is only 25pts, and allows for a Third power.

3. Blood Ravens have extensive knowledge of their powers and only on two "6's" does the warp effect them.

4. Command Squad: may include a librarian that follows rule#1

I think this would be a good start for Blood Ravens chapter rules. it would shave the points up quite a bit on the squad, and still have plenty of powers flying around the table. Plus with the equipment and wound allowcation it could be a pain to kill as well. Granted this is still a HIGH points cost unit, i think it would be fun. And yeah I think the command squad should get access to a "combat librarian" its fitting for the chapter.

thoughts? comments? suggestions?

Well I know blood ravens fluff revolves around psykers, too bad the games don't reflect that at all. But I would try to put more of a twist to their psykers and go for new rules revolving the use of librarians and the psykers.

Since they do have the highest supposedly, you could do upgrades to squads with pyskers, or have an elite choice that is a squad of raw pyskers still in training, or a multitude of things, I haven't read the books, I only read cleft notes of them. I would enjoy to see an adaption to a pysker heavy Space marine army though.

This is good.... isn't it?

raw pyskers really wouldn't be fluffy as in the book the blood ravens still stick very strongly to the Codex 'rules' regaurding pyskers. maybe something where instead of a serg they get a "combat librarian"?
