As a Nids player I'm trying to get with the program on the new codex, and it looks like I'm going to need a couple Tervigons and probably of couple Tyrannofeces, too. I know some of the old rumors said you were supposed to be able to make a Tervigon from mixing the Trygon and Carnifex kits. My question is, can I realistically expect to get a Tyrannofex out of those same two kits? That is, can I buy a Trygon and a Carnifex and build a Tervigon and a Tyrannofex?

I know the Carnifex kit has the heads covered, and if I want both models to have real back legs (not talons) I'll probably steal a pair from a flyrant WIP.

I figure I can cobble together the Carnifex guns into a passable rupture cannon, and I should get enough talons between the two kits to cover that.

But what about bodies? Can I somehow combine the upper body of the Trygon with the lower of the Carnifex, and the lower of the Trygon with the upper of the Carnifex?

I don't have any experience with either kit, and I'm not about to drop approx. $100 on one model.

Thanks in advance.

The Joint between the Carnifex "Torso" and the Carnifex "tail" mirrors the Joint between the Trygon Torso, and the Trygon "tail". In other words, they are both ball- and sockets.

The GW article on Trygon assembly shows the joint rather clearly in step 8-10 here : http://www.games-workshop.com/gws/content/article.jsp?aId=4900008a

Mahau here : http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/274975.page
has taken the trygon and attached carnifex legs; he also has a side-by side with a "traditional" carnifex above.

I'm currently right at the beginning stages of making my Tervigon, however as it stands now the only parts I'm going to need from the Fex kit are the legs and Crushing Claws, and only because I don't care for the spindly spider legged look of using Scytals for legs. Otherwise it's going to be entirely made from the Trygon.

My T-Fex on the other hand is made with only bitz from the Carnifex kit.

Both of these are including judicious use of Plasticard and Green Stuff however, and are not merely a kitbash.

Thanks for the replies, guys. I like Mahau's Tyrannofex. I just hope what's left is enough for a Tervigon.

And Aduro, you're a little out of my league as far as conversions go. I can't do much more than a kitbash. Your stuff looks great, though.
