little anti-tank, i think you should drop raveners and the mawloc to get a tyrannofex so you can reach out and touch something.

I wonder if anyone would consider using a barbed hierodule for a 'counts as' tyrranofex?

its basically the same thing since biocannons are S10 (for the rupture cannon at least)
Gotta agree that the T-fex looks solid, even over zoeys and hive guard.
The venom cannons just arent going to make the cut.

I would drop the mawloc for another 3 zoanthropes. I just dont' think mawlocs are all what they are cracked up to be. Either that, or make points for another trygon.
All and all, pretty hard-looking list. Maybe beef up the genestealers some more, since I have been having really good luck with them in the new codex. You could make the points by getting rid of a hormagaunt brood, and it would get you more stealers.

I want to keep the raveners because they can have 2 sets of scything talons and they have multiple wounds and attacks. I looked over the mawloc in the codex and decided to get rid of it because terror from the deep and burrow aren't worth it for 170 points. I got rid of a brood of 14 hormagaunts so i could get 8 more genestealers. For all those people that were talking about the tyrannofex, i like the t-fex and all, but i cant spend 250 points on it when i'm going for a 1500-1700 point army (sorry i didn't mention that before ) thanks for the input though and keep it comin.

I would run a Trygon prime, 2 units of Genestealers w/Broodlord in a Spore. Add Doom of Malaa'tai with a spore because it is a great addition to the Nidz Army. He alone can turn the tide in a battle with his AOE within 6' Life Leeching ability, remember that his ability always start on the before the shooting and his ability can affect unit in a vehicle, also while his in combat with another unit. Have fun and if you need help PM

Are Mawlocs really that bad? Take out an entire unit of ANYTHING and run away and do it again next turn?
That's very worth 170 points to me.

I like the list, but I haven't had any experience with the new 'nids, so take my opinion for what it is.
Seems fun to play against, and balanced; what a Nid list should be.

The Mawloc are great because the fact that they can deep stike underneath any unit and it disregards the mishap table chart. Plus if read the deep strike rule states that you cant deep strike on top of unit, but the Mawloc come from beneath. Also the Mawloc in the movement phase can either go back into reserve and auto comes back into the next turn. so if you are playing in touranment you can gimp your oppenents that is holding objective.

I just re-added the mawloc. it is pretty worth it to come up under a unit and just kill them from deep striking

The danger of the Mawloc is that if you scatter away from your target, your big special power is wasted, and you might get nuked before you can do it again (or cause other damage.) That said, I still like it - it lets Tyranids influence the board in a way they really can't otherwise, and that is valuable. Disrupting isolated enemy groups on objectives, late in the game? Priceless. And a 6 wound MC for only 170 pts is something of a steal. I think it works best when paired with a Trygon, though, so if they both arrive together, the enemy has tough choices as to what to deal with.

I got rid of:
the raveners-not as good as i thought, they are gonna die before i hit something
8 Genestealers-i don't need that many, better use of points somewhere else
I added the:
Deathleaper-lots of useful special rules;awesome strength,weapon skill,and initiative;only 140 points! thats a steal
1 brood of 16 hormagaunts,upgraded from 14 in a brood to 16-the more gaunts,the better
1 brood of 2 Zoanthropes-easier to take out enemy tanks, i hate tanks
there we go, and now my point total jumped to a nice number around 2000 points. what do you guys think?
by the way, my friend i mentioned earlier helped me make this updated list and so did you guys (at least the ravener part )
