Subject: Archaon and Mark of Nurgle

Just sat down and was about to make a 4000pts list of WoC and decided to take Archaon for once instead of letting it gather dust on my shelf.
And i saw that any shooting against Archaon and the unit he is with suffers a -1 to hit AND any attacks in close combat also suffers a -1 to hit.
What would happen if i put MoN (units are at -1 WS when attacking) on the mandatory Knight unit and put Archaon with them?
Do my opponent suffer both the -1 to hit and the -1 WS in CC when attacking the unit? If not wich of the rules apply?

Rules which affect the unit would not affect the character in this case.
So Archaon would not benefit from the MoN. I would have to do some digging to determine if the knights would still gain his benefit of -1 to hit, although I strongly suspect that they would, as his rule specifies that it includes the unit.
Does the MoN state that it affects characters who join the unit? If not in the army book then what about the FAQ?
EDIT: to quote the WoC book: Any enemy unit tagerting a MODEL with the Mark of Nurgle is at -1 to hit when shooting and -1WS when in base contact with the model.
So each knight itself is considered to have the mark, not the unit as a whole, therefore characters joining would not automatically receive said bonus.
Also note that -1WS is not the same as -1 to hit.

When attacking the unit- both the -1 to hit AND the -1WS would apply, as they are seperate effects.
When attacking Archaon - just the -1 to hit.

I concur with Noseratu. Also, MON has been FAQ'd to read that units suffer -1 WS and -1 BS. It is no longer -1 to hit. Although, -1 BS is effectively the same as -1 to hit. WS is different, however.

That's what I said, Knights become -1WS against them with an additional -1 to hit, and archaon remains at -1 to hit.
Keep in mind that none of that matters when your opponent is firing 4 cannons at that unit.
