Somewhere.

So, I saw an argument the other day regarding the Necron Particle Whip. What had happened was this...a Particle Whip had scattered off the Marine squad being fired at onto a Vindicator behind, including the central hole, but still had a couple of Marines under the blast template as well. The Marine player was arguing that he could assign the AP1 hit from being under the central hole to one of the Marines, where as the Necron player said since they were separate units and the only way to get the full strength of the hit was to have the hole over the vehicle the vehicle got the AP1 hit.

I'm busy moving stuff around and can't find my copy of the main rules, so...who was right?

The Necron player was. The hole was not over a marine, so he could not assign the wound.

The AP1 can only be assigned to a model in the unit the hole was over. The unit in this case is the Vindicator.

Necron player was 100% correct.
