I was thinking to help lessen the load on the server , and less pages to search through when we are trying to dig up up our old threads.
Cant we have an option to delete our own threads thats un used for 3 months?

I know I'm always doing this, but I would second some form of LunaHound's request. Other than P&M blogs, threads that old tend to not get read or even searched. Posting in them is even considered against the rules as thread necromancy.

Ehhh, I do not think that's a good idea.... It means if someone who has started lots of good threads decides to leave in a huff over some senseless internet drama, he can delete a ton of content.

In addition, deleting a thread you made means deleting tonnes of other peoples posts...

I don't think it's a great idea.

How about being able to petition mods to delete content that is older than 3 months?

That seems just as cumbersome to me, however. The real beauty of Luna's plan is that it allows people to tend their own gardens, as it were, rather than shifting the burden to a small group of mods with other duties.

I will say you have a fair point when it comes to this plan allowing one person to delete other people's posts. That could open up a can of internet drama. I wonder if pushing the time limit to six months or a year would help?

I gave it 3 months because if for w/e reason people need the thread for something , they should just take a screen shot of it , or already have reported to the mods already.

If for w/e reason the incident wasnt taken care of after 3 months , it really wont get anywhere far anyways.

And yes this is only for deleting our own thread that we made not others.

Right but we're not the only ones who post in our own threads. I think the worry is that someone will hold a grudge for three or more months or all of the sudden if they get angry and then spitefully erase really good discussion that other people have had in threads they made. I'm not sure how often people refer back to non P&M or Fiction threads that are three or more months old anyway, however.

Automatically Appended Next Post:
Just took a stroll through N&B posts of yore. Dunno if the same logic applies but here you go:
legoburner wrote:Only moderators can delete or rename articles (so that people's links dont get messed up), and I have now removed the two you asked to be deleted.
I don't know if messing up links is really that important as between threads.
legoburner wrote:When a post is deleted, all trace is removed so we dont see the previous edits. If a user posts a load of hatred and flamebait, then gets some responses, then deletes it before mods can see it there would be no record. It is no hassle for us to delete your duplicate posts, just click the 'alert mod' button and we'll take care of it.
Luna has already dealt with this not being a problem as against her suggestion.
