During the last years, I mainly played tournaments at the 1750 (or 2000) pt level.
However, this year, the German GT will be played at the 1500 pt level.

What are the main implications when playing at lower pt levels (1500 pts)?

For instance, there are less heavy weapons the enemy can bring to bear.
This could mean that tougher units like 10 Assault Termies or a large
Seer Council are even harder to destroy.

Thoughts?

It just makes lists like those win big or lose big IMO.
I love 1500 for my biker marines, it's their sweet spot.

I feel 1500 makes generalship stand out a bit more.

This is a little story about four people named Everybody, Somebody, Anybody, and Nobody.
There was an important job to be done and Everybody was sure that Somebody would do it.
Anybody could have done it, but Nobody did it.
Somebody got angry about that because it was Everybody's job.
Everybody thought that Anybody could do it, but Nobody realized that Everybody wouldn't do it.
It ended up that Everybody blamed Somebody when Nobody did what Anybody could have done.

I don't like 1500. There's not enough room for army synergy in some codices. I feel like the 1750-2000 range is the best balanced for 40K.

Vivano crudelis exitus.

I don't like 1500 either.
But as Sanctjud said, there is room for armies like Biker-heavy forces
that can eventually be played with less success at higher pt levels.

Well, expanding from a biker list doesn't make them less competitive.
I find that there's just an overload of decent choices making my efforts to expand out there problematic...

There is a charm for every point level.
I try to enjoy the game holistically...play at all levels allows you to be well rounded.

Each army has pros and cons at higher or lower points... nothing will be completely balanced at whatever points level.
It's nice to have 'the army you envision' on the board supported by the points level, realistically (though not exactly a strong position to stand on) you won't get all the resources you'd want on the battlefield...so at 1500, you work with less to makes the most of what you take, and use OTHER elements to win and not just list building...at least that's how I see lower point games. Though it's not to say some lists just upset it, but that's at any points level.

I know my Chaos army functions very well at higher points, but it's not to say they aren't lethal at 1500, it's just I'd have to cut down on some unit numbers and screws with the army 'visually' for me....errr..rambling.

Anyway, I think that was just a tiny bit hurtful Wuestenfux...but the smiley makes it ok .

Yeah, its a tiny bit hurtful if one has to cut down a force that appears to be well-rounded at larger pt levels.

I'll come up with army lists for CSM, SM, and Eldar before I'll decide what to field.
