Meh. It's the same game as Empire. All they've done is change the world map, alter some skins and meshes, and add new leaders/flags.
It's really underhanded of Sega to try and resell this as a "New" game, when a DLC World Domination campaign would've made perfect sense. Most of the game mechanics and all the files from Empire are being recycled for this, so why they didn't just make this a mod pack for $20 instead of charging a full $60 for another full game is beyond me. All I can think of for an answer is: Cheap, obvious cash grab. I think I'll wait until someone in the modding community turns this "New" title into a mod for Empire.

Listen, my children, as I pass onto you the truth behind Willy Wonka and his factory. For every wonka bar ever created in existance, Mr. Wonka sacraficed a single Oompa Loompa to the god of chocolate, Hearshys. Then, he drank the blood of the fallen orange men because he fed them a constant supply of sugary chocolate so they all became diabetic and had creamy, sweet-tasting blood that willy could put into each and every Wonka bar. That is the REAL story behind willy wonka's Slaughter House! |

Basically if you have Empire, you won't want this. It's the same game. Might as well save your cash.
If you don't have Empire though, this is a fine purchase.

Might buy it, I picked up Empire and quite liked it(until I lost all the fething data on my pc, I'm not going to download all those damn patches again). Even though as Metallifan stated, they are basically the same thing, it will be my way of getting my empire building fix.

Empire was set in the 18th Century (Campaign starts at 1699 IIRC)
Napoleon is set in the 19th.
Thing is, the UI is the same. The units have the same stats - they just look different and all have name changes.
There is a small handful of new UUs and Nations, but not by a lot.
The campaign is -slightly- larger in North America, and Europe recieved some boundary changes.
Basically, all DLC content added on top of the Vanilla game. Buy it if you have the cash and hard drive space, or if you didn't get Empire, but otherwise it isn't worth the buy. If you didn't like Empire, you probably won't like this. Same game, new coat of paint.

What I dislike/hate with Empire total war and Napoleon is that they try to make a better game than Medieval 2 Total War and failing HARD! I mean come on, who in their right mind would buy a clone of that game.

I'd disagree with metallifan, because I played Empire to feth and I want this game a lot. Perhaps that's because 19th floats my boat more than 18th, but I still think it's extortionate and stupid not to have a FULL GRAND NAPOLEONIC CAMPAIGN.

Oh, Death was never enemy of ours!
We laughed at him, we leagued with him, old chum.
No soldier's paid to kick against His powers.
We laughed - knowing that better men would come,
And greater wars: when each proud fighter brags
He wars on Death, for lives; not men, for flags. |

I agree, 19th is way better, but it won't feel like anything new. You'll probably forget that you're actually playing a different game on account of how identical they play. Setting, story, sizewise, Napoleon is better. But it's still just the same game, unfortunately.

Empire was buggy and the AI was terrible, plus the game as a whole was an immense resource hog. For some reason, I doubt they have corrected these issues. If they DID....I'll wait for some realism/gameplay mods before taking an interest in it. If they DIDN'T, I'll just keep playing Rome Total Realism and Third Age Total War.
