Finally after so many years of wanting to build lots and lots of nasty looking bugs I get that chance.

Looking for help in listhammering before I lighten my wallet.

HQ
-- Tyrant (deployed near home objective)
- Venom Cannon
- Adrenal Glands
- Hive Commander

-- Alpha Warrior (Spodding w/ warriors
- Bonesword
- Lashwhip
- Deathspitter

Troop

-- Tervigon (deployed near home objective)
- Adrenal glands
- toxin Sacs
- catalyst

-- 20 x Gaunts (deployed near home objective)

-- 9 x Warriors (Spodding)
- DeathSpitters
---Spod w/ 2 x Guns

-- 20 x Gaunts (Spodding)
---Spod w/ 2 x Guns

Elites

-- 3 x Hive Guard (deployed near home objective)

-- 3 x Hive Guard (deployed near home objective)

I think I have about 25 points remaining, but am not really sure where to put em...

Goal:

- Create a hefty chunk of bodies on my home objective(s) with my primary Anti-Vehicle weapons to pop transports and light armor
- Create a wall of Spods (if lucky) between opponents firebase
-- Gaunts go directly to claim objective / Kill opponents objective grabbers
-- Warriors focus on killing objective grabbers and then whatever else they can without denying the gaunts synapse

I realize I'm seriously lacking in Shooting guns capable of piercing av14.
Primarily I'll go for killing of my opponents scoring units and then weathering whatever his tanks throw my way until the game ends.

Thoughts:
As much as I like the idea of dropping 3 x spods with 20 gaunts in each just to ruin my opponents day, I'll have problems with Synapse ranges, and I'm not up for painting that many of the little guys.

Questions for the Board:

- Where can I put those 25 points?
- What other ways can I fit a nasty unit(s) of warriors into a 1.5k list? (winged CC warriors seem really expensive)

The list lacks Anti-tank. Hive guard are great for popping transports and the venom cannon CAN penetrate, but the odds aren't on your side.

It might be worth dropping one unit of hive guard and replacing them with 2 zoanthropes in a pod. Hits hard against any AV and takes pressure off your firebase, as well as providing more synapse up front if your warriors die.

Warriors with deathspitters is probably the best way to go. They can hurt a lot of infantry just with the sheer number of attacks they throw out, and they aren't too bad at knocking out transports if they need to. They are also quite survivable against small arms fire though S8 will hurt them bad. Definately use the spodding gaunts to give them a cover save.

Ok, so lose the adrenal on the tyrant. He doesn't need it. And if my maths is correct you have 80 pts left after making the changes I suggested. You could even make the zoanthropes a brood of 3, or give the tyrant a 2+ save, or upgrade the gaunts to have devourers (3 shots each!!!), though you wouldn't have quite so many gaunts (18).

good luck

my only fear is the loss of redundancy in dropping the 2nd hive guard unit.
Probably something that needs playtesting to see.

What else can I equip the tyrant with?
Hes basically going to sit in cover with the tervigon shooting at anything within range, maybe moving slowly towards a mid range objective.
Seems like a lot of points being wasted on a unit that just brings in my reserves more reliably.

Load him out with wings and HTH upgrades and send him off to charge things before they get the charge in on the home base?

80 points....
Hmmmm, lets see how I can fit a unit of zoanthropes in

I like the idea of sending him in with the spodding stuff (wings). If your opponent is fully mechanized he can use his psychic powers to reduce 1 unit to WS and BS1. Great against sun's IG blob and Josh's XV8's.

Just got back from a couple of games against craig. He played eldar so he effectively shut down my zoanthropes. But I figureagainst players with not so much psychic defense it should be fine (i was taking the tests on 3D6). Zoanthropes also take away heavy weapons fire from the big guys i was using.

My only real suggestion is regeneration on the Tervigon and hive tyrant.

There are some articles on unit building in the article section of dakka that would really be of help when picking upgrades and building units.
