Ok, So i've had little luck, and now, I'm looking for rankings.

I need German, italian Belgian, french, russian, chinese, english and japanese rankings from 1937-1945 (Or, world war two.)

For the major 6, I need at least 6- in language rankings. (For japanese and chinese, non-character please.) and their american alternatives...
it'd be best if they're in order.
I.e;
Private
Lance-corpral
Sergeant
Lieutenant
Officer
S2

they have to be in field positions, deployed to the battle field.

NO SPECIAL FORCES/ELITES.

PS: I realise that this isn't exactly wargaming, but it's going into creating an easy/relateable version of Warhammer.

I can give you all the German ones, and english(their are a lot), but do you want them in the actual spelling?

Japanese had 2 style. Army type and Navy Type.Perhaps you are looking for Army one.

I've gotten my germanians.

The U.S had two sets of enlisted ranks in that era. You had the normal and the Tech ranks. The tech would always have a T under the strips.

Uh, no.

German enlisted ranks depended on which arm they served with and the year. A rifleman was a Schuetze, but later in the war Hitler made them all Grenadier.

Soldat = Private
Kannonier = Private (artillery)
Grenadier = Private (late war all)
Schuetze = Private (infantry)
Oberkannonier, Oberschuetze etc = no direct equivalent
Gefreiter = Private First Class
Obergrefreiter = Corporal
Stabsgefreiter/Hauptgefreiter = no direct equivalent
Unteroffizier = Sergeant
Unterfeldwebel/Unterwachtmeister = Staff Sergeant
Feldwebel/Wachtmeister = Sergeant First Class
Oberfeldwebel/Oberwachtmeister = Master Sergeant
Stabsfeldwebel/Stabswachtmeister = Sergeant Major

I'm wondering why no one's posted USMC rankings yet...which is weird considering my choice of enlistment...

I didn't ask for ?USMC, I'm only really interested in original basic troops, and even if you give an american soldier USMC rankings, he'll have the same stats, with say, Amphibious assault as his special rule.

Right, but it seems like their rank structure is more commonly known, I was just surprised that no one threw it out was all.

And are you just lookin for E1-6/O3?

fair 'nuff. I'm fine with you adding USMC or Airborne, but I just don't want ubertroops.

Private -> Soldat
PFC -> Soldat de premiere classe (note: this is not a separate grade in the French Army)
better-but-not leader yet -> Caporal or Caporal-Chef (usually leads a group of 3 infantry soldiers of the platoon)

Non-Commissioned Officers
squad leader -> Sergent or Sergent-Chef for a more senior one
-> Adjudant to Lieutenant (platoon command)

Commissioned Officers
Captain -> Capitaine
