Hey, I don't know how many people here actually like Starcraft (given the influences 40k had on the game I can see people either loving it or hating it lol), but since this is a tournament ran by a site I've worked with a long time, I felt like giving it a shot. I've personally done very little work on this tournament (mostly some refereeing for the qualifiers), as it's not really my area of responsiblity, but a lot of work went into it by others

The Team Liquid Starleague or TSL is an online Starcraft: Broodwar tournament organised by Team Liquid. With a total prize pool of $22,500 and a massive $10,000 award for first place, the event will be the largest international Starcraft tournament to date.

Like its predecessor, the Razer TSL 2008, The PokerStrategy.com TSL will be played out over three rounds. The ladder stage took place from November 21 to December 12, 2009, the qualifiers took place in early January 2010, and finally the TSL is starting this weekend and will be broadcast live over the Internet. With a talented team of casters in tow, Team Liquid is ready to make this season's broadcasts the best yet.

Starcraft was released by Blizzard entertainment in 1998 and for the better part of the decade after remained its best selling PC game. Awarded a plethora of awards, and played by hundreds of thousands of people even today, it is most famous in gaming circles for the extensive exposure it received in South Korea, a country which has professional leagues and teams built around it.

The qualifiying ladder was (iirc) 3 weeks, late november to early december, together with seeds from last season (top 3). Then the qualified players duked it out in a qualifier (the higher up in the ladder you finished, the less games you had to win), weeding them down to 13 players + 3 seeds.

The first broadcast of the Round of 16 games will start in a few minutes - stream should be up here once it does:
