Infiltrating Broodlord

R'lyeh

I picked up a Legion of Everblight warpack, a Scyrah warjack and a Cryx warjack today. Mostly because the models are sweet. I'm interested in playing the games, but I've got no idea where to go from here. So, advice? Also if anyone can advise any good builds for an average size game (which is...?) for Cryx, Scyrah or Everblight I'd appreciate it greatly.

Thanks.

Welcome to the game. i am pleased to inform you there are no typical army builds in warmachine or hordes, it is based heavily on your chosen warcaster and even then varies wildly. the basic idea is to build to the strengths of your caster, do you have any warcasters or warlocks you favor?
I suppose the first starting point is deciding which faction to build upon then select a caster or two to start with. as hordes is in a moment of transition, i think it will take a few days for anyone to give you good information on the legion. there are several threads here of people starting warmachine with similar questions in which the factions are described so i will leave that to those who are more elloquent than myself.
The standard warmachine game sizes tend to be 15, 35, and 50 points with 35 being more dominant.

About Legion of Everblight. Hordes is going to have the final field test pdfs very soon. Maybe a week or so. In that pdf should be quite the same rules that will come out when the Legion book finally hits the shelves (maybe in autumn?), so I'd recommend to wait until that and then come back for them.

For Retribution of Scyrah I could advice you first to pick your favorite caster. All of them are quite different and work in a different fashion. On the same sentence though I could say that all of our infantry and solos (save the Scyir perhaps) are good and will work with any of the casters. So do some research on those caster and come back then and we'll see were to go from there.

EDIT: Also in this very forum we have a good source for Retribution knowledge: http://www.dakkadakka.com/wiki/en/Retribution_of_Scyrah

The man who wrote those summaries should be shot. There are huge gaps in the writeups.

Anyway, the Retribution offers various starting points:

*Kaelyssa- Ranged 'Caster
*Vyros- Mix of Infantry, Melee fighter and 'Jack 'Caster
*Adeptus Rahn- Magic spell 'caster
*Ravyn- Melee and Infantry 'Caster
*Garryth Voyle- Assassin
