Hi everyone,

Before bothering to convert the Canoness I just wanted to see what people thought of my army list (Basically a Jump Pack Canoness in general). I also have plans to build it up to at least 1500 points (A few Exorcists, SoB in Rhinos, etc), but that will be later.

Canoness
Blessed Weapon, Plasma Pistol, Cloak of St. Aspira, Jump Pack, Bionics, Frag Grenade
[126]

Sisters of Battle Squad 1
Veteran Superior with close combat weapon and Bolt Pistol, Storm Bolter and a Flamer
10 models
Rhino transport (Standard no upgrades)
[187]

Sisters of Battle Squad 2
Veteran Superior with close combat weapon and Bolt Pistol, Storm Bolter and a Flamer
10 models
Rhino transport (Standard no upgrades)
[187]

Thanks in advance for any tips, comments or suggestions

I recommend a Mantle of Ophelia for your Canoness, otherwise any S6 attack is going to instagib you if you happen to fail your 2+ save. And drop the storm bolters on your veteran superior for a combi melta or meltabombs on your Canoness to smash tanks and transports.

Would it be better to keep the flying Canoness in the army when it expands or change it for a Canoness and Celestian squad in an Immolator?

A cannonness with retinue is going to be expensive as well. Go with a Heavy Flamer, Flamer or Heavy Flamer, Melta for your troops. You need to buy smoke for your rhinos, it costs 3 points and extra armor 5 points. Anyone with a SM dex would pay the 5 for armor (even if your rhinos are overpriced.

Lose the Bionics and if you are going to use a Plasma Pistol you might as well use an Inferno Pistol to pop tanks. I personally think you are better off with an Eviscerator on her at this point level to pop tanks, dreads, etc.

Edit: If you are really sold on using the SoB from the box set, then put both storm bolters in one squad and both flamers in the other. Then throw another storm on the superior and use the 50 points from the Rhino for more sisters.

It's just made up of what I have at the moment. Funny thing about the Extra Armour though, when I do take it I never get the stunned result at all, but when I don't they might be stunned all game >_>

At what points level does the Blessed weapon become better than taking the Eviscerator?

Bionics have never suceeded so they're gone and I was just thinking of the Inferno Pistol before I checked this.
Would the Canoness work if it didn't have the jump pack and was with its own Retinue at a higher point limit? I don't intend on staying at 500 for too long, 1500 is the level I use the most.

I always run my Cannonness solo with the standard loadput - Eviscerator, Jump Pack, Cloak, Mantle and Inferno Pistol to use them for tank hunting (2d6 armor pen on 6 or S8 with Faith is good) and a 2++ on demand.

There is nothing worse than getting a BW Cannonness tied up by a Dread and a BW only wounds on 3's for MEQ where an Eviscerator wounds on 2's for MEQ. The key is to play boldly with them (I charged mine into a Warboss yesterday and sent him packing, and a set of 20+ boys after that).

I have seen people run them with Retinues in Immolaters (5x Celestians w/ 2 Melta guns) pop the tank, flame the contents and charge whats left but for my playstyle I just don't like to do that.

Alright I'll change to the Eviscerator then. I kind of think they look cool anyway, I just didn't like the S6 strike at I1 when it would be S5 strike at I4, but it looks like it makes up for it alot.

Thanks everyone for the replies

At this points range, have more guys and lower average cost is better.

Strom bolters has no difference with bolters at all, since the whole units cannot charge after rapid fire. Drop them. And have as many meltaguns as possible.

Automatically Appended Next Post:
You have almost no anti-tank fire, so if your opponent stay in transport vehicles, you cannot hurt them. And then you would be...

Suggest that you opponent player also plays WH and has a list like this:

HQ: Canoness 208 Pts
1 Canoness Eviscerator; Add Celestian Retinue
4 Celestian Retinue
Bolter (x2); Meltagun (x2); Mount in Rhino; Smoke Launchers

Elite: Inquisitor 45 Pts
Eviscerator

Troops: Inquisitorial Stormtroopers 123 Pts
5 Inquisitorial Stormtroopers; Meltagun (x2); Mount in Rhino; Smoke Launchers

Troops: Inquisitorial Stormtroopers 123 Pts
5 Inquisitorial Stormtroopers; Plasmagun (x2); Mount in Rhino; Smoke Launchers

Around 500pts, and meltaguns/plasmaguns/flamers could be shifted each other, for actual need.

What would happen when your army meet this list?

I guess they would bash against the Rhinos hoping to get through it, but mostly get shot apart. The only real anti tank is the Canoness, which has taken out a battlewagon with its first Plasma Pistol shot ever to the side armour, but that was just through extreme luck. I supose I'm just lucky I don't verse much mech here, it seems to all be on foot even at the higher levels. I guess I'll go with more Meltas.

How about this list
[497]

Canoness
Eviscerator, Inferno Pistol, Jump Pack, Cloak of St. Aspira
[125]

Sisters of Battle Squad 1 - 136
10 Battle Sisters
Veteran Superior has Bolt Pistol and Chainsword
Meltagun
Rhino
[186]

Sisters of Battle Squad 2
10 Battle Sisters
Veteran Superior has Bolt Pistol and Chainsword
Meltagun
Rhino
[186]

This point limit doesn't let me take too many Meltas, I think I will add a Melta and a Heavy Flamer to most of the squads when I expand the points, the original list was just to see what mono-SoB was like and I liked how they played so they'll definitely be expanded to at least 1500 points.

I would drop the cloak for points. She would still be instant death from a single plasma shot, isn't she?

And book of St.Lucius would be helpful.

I don't intend to stay at 500 points for too much longer anyway

The main purpose of this thread was really to see if it would be worth converting a winged Canoness, and it looks like it will be.

Thanks for the help Char

You may find she in need of flying companions soon.

A solo HQ fly to an tank, easily crush it with 2D6 penetration.

Then firmly hold in enemies' conunter-attack shooting.

And tear the charging foes to pieces in close combat.

Wait, we are talking about a Deamon Prince.

So I would definitely want some Seraphim added into the army for the Canoness when the army reaches a less restrictive points limit.

But, should I only take one Seraphim squad for the Canoness or should I take two so I have one as a supporting unit?

Would this be a good supporting unit for the flying Canoness?

6 Seraphim
Veteran Superior with Eviscerator and Bolt Pistol and Melta Bomb (From the squad upgrade not the list for some reason it's 1 point cheaper )
Two Seraphim have Inferno Pistols and Melta Bombs (It says the squad not a model so they all have to take it)
The other Three are default and have Melta Bombs

I did not see the "book of St.Lucius". I thought it was basic equipment for a cannoness leading a unit or for the VSS. At least when you expand your army add a few to the roster.

Is that the thing that basically makes them stubborn?
I'll add it in then when I increase it.

I like Blessed Weapons better than Eviscerators.
Bessed is 5 pts more. It is a MC PW that adds + 2 to Str. the models strikes Int 4 Not 1.
the Eviscerator only gives you 1 extra str and attacks Int 1.
For tank hunting I can see using a Eviscerator. Melta bombs are more powerful. STR 8 vs. STR 6.
This is my opinion.
