I love this guy. He was intended as the leader of a Tzeentchian Lost and the Damned army, but I don't know if that's even legal anymore.



This guy is an Aspiring Champ. I wasn't as happy with the fur GS work as on the Lord, but it's passable, and with some paint it'll turn out alright. He's a little biggerized, the chest piece is a Berzerker torso flipped upside down. Now that I look more closely though, the length of the shins really throws the whole true-scale off. Oh well, he still towers over those deluded loyalist thugs.



So what's the verdict, is the LatD army still legal/viable? And if anyone has a link to a good GS fur tutorial, I might redo that tabard... I've got another 2 Asp. Champs in the works, I'll try to lure my girlfriend over with promises of a home-cooked meal and a massage in trade for some time with her camera. Cross your fingers, hopefully more pics on the way!

The LaTD army is no longer viable, sadly.

I live with the hope that GW will one day resurrect it, but I'm not overly optimistic...

When you say "no longer viable", do you mean grimly imbalanced or actually illegal? There's always the Vraks books, or you can try one of the many proxy options people are exploring these days.

Love the Leopard King, the claws and cowl work great together! Can't quite make his face out in the photo though. I always loved the model you used as a base, and you gave it a distinct new look.

Biggerized champ looks fantastic too.

Lost and the damned sadly went the way of GW no more. the said the lists were no longer legal. Doesn't mean if your building for some with a few games with friends you can't do it just that you can't play it in a tourney.

Damn you GW. I was hoping to live the dream of burying a Str 8 PF in a squad 20 models deep. With multiple defilers covering the advance with barrage fire. I even had a Defiler in the process of conversion:

You know this really pisses me off. It's not like LatD was some one-off army they posted in a WD issue. No. It was in a BOOK. All of the Eye of Terror armies were cool and flavorful. I can accept that a games company needs to keep releasing new editions of stuff, balancing rules, balancing armies, etc.. But to just yank an army like this, which I'm positive fans have devoted hundreds of $ to, is just plain wrong. [/rant]

YESSS! A slann powered defiler is hilariously great, roll with it! Really gives the defiler a weapon-platform look. Some steps to integrate the chair and the platform, or the Slann and the platform, may be in order. A big psychic collector gadget or something like that could go on the crest of the throne. The bones on the throne and the spikes on the defiler could also tie in together.

I agree, LATD was a really fun list (while not the sharpest knife in the arsenal) and deserved more attention than it got. Anyone seen a good fan list lately?

Of coarse it's wrong they did the same crap with storm of chaos, but go figure right. You could build your IG and do what I do convert the traitors out of them and ustilize the new IG codex. Hell you can put carapce on them and stuff that would help.

You could always add a daemon hunter attachment to a main IG force. That way you could add some gray knight marines in. The shrouding kind of fits the lost and the damned. You could use the inqusisitor to build a reasonable lord with his cabal of psychos forming his retinue. It would be an interesting proxy army where you could still tell what was what everything is fairly well, unlike those adeptus Mechanus proxy armies people drool over. Just make sure all the weapons are WYSIWYG and sub in CSM for SM and your good to go.

@Dead_Kennedy: The plan is to sculpt more of those roots I have on there now, but make 'em bigger and wrapped around all the legs; coming out from underneath the throne. Was planning on having the roots continue up into some sort of weird bonsai coming up behind the slann. Then add skinks as a crew inside the hollow abdomen, manning the autocannon, and fanning the slann of course.



GW, you win. I give up on LatD. I'll probably finish the models I have started just for kicks, but time to move on I guess.
