When you play a game, what is your most common point total? What is your favorite type of game? Small games. big games, campaigns (what kind), escalation, doubles, tournaments, or other?

This should be a poll (or a few polls) - but I'd say we tend to play 1500pts almost exclusively, lets us get in 3 or 4 games in a few hours and all play against each other. (There's only 4 people in our little group).

Occasionally we'll play a 2000pts game.

We always play random scenarios too, keeps things interesting. A lot of armies that people say 'suck' tend to perform much better in certain scenarios than the basic Pitched Battle.

Eeeeh, wargaming weren't like this back in my day!

Usually 1000-1250 points at my flgs.
Against friends it can range from 1500-3000 just depending on how much time we have.
99% of the time we will just play a pitched battle. I prefer the larger games just because I like the epic feel of them.

Tournaments or friendly games preparing for tournaments.

2250 or 2500 almost universally.

There are a few 3000 point tourneys (one locally) andseveral 1500 point tourneys this year, but as I'll be playing O&G a tier 5 army I get 1850 points and an extra special and rare slot.

Can you explain tiers? I have never played in tournaments.

I'm at 1,850-1,750 right now, but I'm hoping to get to 2,250. I also play many, many 750 pointers.

Some people play to win, some people play for fun. Me? I play to kill toy soldiers.

I usually play around 1500-1750 range. Never really enjoyed big, 2000+ games for some reason. What I really enjoy however are the 500 point skirmish games. Always a good bit of fun.

I really dislike small fantasy games. Never feels like a battle, more like a duel.

We try to go for 2250, but the average is 1500.

It's mostly tournament prep around here, which means 2250 or 2500. But I have a soft spot in my heart for 1500...

@Boogeyman: Many regions attach certain tiers to army books based on the perceived strength of those books. How many tiers exist and which book belongs on which tier tends to vary depending on where you play. It's basically a way to acknowledge that some books are stronger than others, which can be a tool for balancing things out at a given event.

For example: You might put Dark Elves and Demons at Tier 1, Lizards and VC at Tier 2, A bunch of armies at tier 3, and ogres and o'n'g at Tier 4. That's just a random example, and not intended to start a debate on which army belongs on which tier.

On a delicate chain at her throat, she keeps it with her to this day.”
