Hi all.

I've had a good deal of success lately with a list that most people would say that should be difficult to win with.

This is due to the idea that the Eldar lists rely on their heavy support choices.

This list is as the title suggests.

My usual lists consist of:

2 x 10 man guardian units with EML and Warlock with Embolden (usually parked in cover).
1 x 10 striking scorpians with or without exarch, outflanking, depending on how I'm feeling and opponents.
1 x 10 dire avengers without Exarch (as I prefer them firing every turn if in range).
1 x Farseer with spirit stones, guide, doom, fortune and singing spear.

This is the core of the army.

I can then add another guardian unit, identically equipped as the previous ones and:
10 x wraithguard and Warlock with conceal and singing spear.
10 x pathfinders (or 2 x 5 pathfinders - If I add 5 man units one of them can have Maugan Ra besides them as support).
I can also upgrade the Farseer to Eldrad depending on the points.

The units above I have painted and I'm thinking of adding more units, that I have, that are not painted, to the pool I already have.

Whatever I choose to add is not an issue as I have an extensive collection (including all heavy support choices - which I'm trying to avoid).

My usual opponents are Ork, Tau, CSM, Codex Marines and Nids.

What do you think would be valuable additions to keep the list all ground pounding without using heavy's if possible?

Thanks in advance for your input.

It's great that this list has been working for you. It would seem that your local players would seem to run similar lists. Do you play on a full size table because you only have 2 guns that can shoot over 18". Do your opponents run many tanks because It looks like you would have quite a bit of trouble with those. Does the local space marine player have a land raider? I have no problem with not using heavy support slots because as you have stated the eldar ones aren't fantastic. However, you have throw away your army's greatest strength: Mobility. Eldar tanks and skimmers can move further than anyone and can move in the assault phase. As you increase in points, I think you will struggle without taking advantage of great Eldar mobility.

I can't see your list doing well against even a moderately mechanized list.

I ran a foot list with three "anti-tank" wraithlords for the HS slot. I did great against other non-mechanized lists, but bring even a couple of rhinos to the table and you're fighting an uphill battle in any mission involving objectives, as they simply tank shock your pathfinders and laugh as they run with their mighty LD8.

if your worried about tank-shock then take fire dragons, noone who is smart will tank-shock fire dragons....or if they do it once and lose a tank they won't do it again.

Your army needs more things that can break tanks at range...

Except nobody needs to tank shock fire dragons because they don't score, and because you can shoot them to death with even moderate anti-infantry firepower.

The Tau player I'm up against is usually mechanised. Usually 2 devil fish and 2 Railheads.

I do sometimes struggle against this - this is why I have a few singing spears in there.

I haven't really faced many LR in the space marine armies thankfully.

@ wildstyle - The Guardians might only have leadership 8 but they do have a reroll due to embolden. They rarely run on me (unless they get assaulted).

I can see the benefits of the Avatar and it would help out with anti armour - harlequins too to a certain extent - fusion pistols or rely on rending?

We do play on a full size table however range rarely seems to be an issue. Everything running or fleeting means I'm not out of range for long.

@ razorlead - I never said the heavy support choices were bad, just that I choose not to use them.

With regards to mobility - would it be worth adding warp spiders to give me a bit more speed?

Well, I like warp spiders, but they only add more anti-infantry ability, which your army has plenty of already.

Well those warp spiders have great mobility and can wreck anything short of a land raider/monolith by getting into rear shot position and blasting away.

Nah, the AP- really nerfs their anti-vehicle ability. They can wreck most vehicles, but it's not particularly likely.

Black Templar LR spam build would wreck this list.

Seems like you are doing well because of your opponents/local meta more than the strength of the list.

Not that there's anything wrong with that, mind you. I paly Slogging Eldar but use Reapers, a WL, and Walkers for Heavies. If you don't have the CC units Eldar has available you really should have lots of shooting!
