Hey all,

I am a new Warhammer 40k player, reborn from the ashes of the original Rogue Trader incarnation. Its been years and years since I killed Orks, Eldar, and other enemies of humanity with bolters; baby, its good to be back.

Over the holidays my brother and a friend sneakily sucked me back into the game with a few well placed presents. I suppose I didn't exactly resist - we've been playing the Warhammer Fantasy RPG for years, Dark Heresy since it first arrived, and more recently the new Rogue Trader, and I have always loved the 40k universe, so it was easy to fall back into its warm embrace. Now I am an addict. They both warned me that it was a slippery slope, and that I shouldn't thank them yet, but despite the fevered urges to paint, and the uncontrollable desire to buy miniatures I wont even assemble for weeks, have kicked in full force, I wouldn't have it any other way.

I am slowly assembling a Dark Angels army (I know some haters aren't into the DA-action, but they've been a favorite of mine since the old days, so I couldn't resist) and looking for some low-key games in the San Francisco area where I can relearn the system, and get used to my army. I've also created a blog to track my progress, if anyone is interested.

Heres a few sample pics:

Hey Bramnero.

Right now I'm kind of leaning toward an infantry oriented army, mostly because I want to learn my troops, and then start incorporating armor and transports based on my needs. I have about 1350 points assembled now: 1 captain, 1 librarian, a 5 man sternguard squad, 2x 10 man tactical squads, 2x 5 man scout squads, a 5 man assault squad, and a dreadnought. My next purchases are going to be 2x 5 man devastator squads which I may expand to 10 man squads (+5 tac-style marines) to support the heavy weapons, another dreadnought, and hopefully down the road a pair of rhinos or some other transport vehicles...

I'm not worrying about Ravenwing or Deathwing yet. Eventually I'd like to have some bikes and at least a squad of terminators, but I'll worry about that when I'm ready.

I don't know if you got a chance to check it out, but I'm slowly tracking my painting progress on my blog:
http://thelazaruseffect.blogspot.com/

Hopefully I'll be able to put more up tonight.
