Would blast weapons ignore the tau vehicle cover upgrade
since the the blast goes off inside the upgrades ineffective range?

No. You measure from the model firing the weapon. Whether it is Blast or not has no relevance.

You even get it if Barrage Weapons fire at it from beyond the distance specified in the codex.

Nope we still get it, best 25 points I spend in my whole army list (5 Vehicles)

Trade rules: lower rep trades ships 1st. - I ship within 2 business days, if it will be longer I will contact you & explain. - I will NOT lie on customs forms, it's a felony, do not ask me to mark sales as "gifts". Free shipping applies to contiguous US states.

This is not completely true. Read the section on barrage weapons. The shot is said raw to come from the center of the blast marker, not from the vehicle that shot it. So no, you do not get a cover save on the tau vehicles as the shot originates from the center of the blast template for barrage weapons. The section on cover saves and obsured targets raw also comfirms this, and the codex does not say anything opposite this. I can do quotes if you like, but its pointless waste of time for an easily read rule. pg 32 of main rulebook/ page 30 of tau codex.

Wrong. The tau wargear says if the FIRER is more than 12" away. Regardless of how the "cover" is determined, if the firer is more than 12" away, you get the cover save. End of Discussion.

The shot is said raw to come from the center of the blast marker, not from the vehicle that shot it.

But the DP makes no mention of where the shot came from only where the weapon is. Is the weapon more than 12" away, if yes you get the save regardless of where the actual shot came from.

Take the Magic: The Gathering 'What Color Are You?' Quiz.

Yes my Colour is Black but not for the reasons stated mainly just because it's slimming... http://imperiusdominatus.blogspot.com

DP cares about where the weapon FIRING the shot is, NOT where the shot is counted as coming from.

Please read more carefully, this is a common mistake.
