i'm making an epic eldar pirate army based around the following system:

crew men - storm guardians

fire crews - dire avengers

boarders - banshees

cutting crews - fire dragons

raiders - swooping hawks

flankers - war walkers

all in wave serpents cept the cutters in a falcon

fast, hard hitting and fluffy. i basically imagine that the pirates have a fleet of small ships and a flag ship from which they raid so nothing too heavy or tech. fast and raidy are what i'm looking at.

lets start with the captain

I like this concept quite a bit - looking forward to seeing more. Nice job with the first fig.

I modelled a small army of corsairs by combining the dark elf, dire avengers and harlequins, looks like you're doing something fairly similar (it works brilliantly)

Awesome captain!

Why must I always choose beween certain death and probable death.

Sounds like a great project although i'm a little confused by the 'epic' - from the captain model I'm guessing it's 40K rather than epic?

I think you'll find a lot of help in the Dark Elf range of figures...

And that IS a fantastic Captain conversion!
