This is just a mini that I've recently finished for a commission. The colors that I used were made to match my client's request. The actual placement and composition of the colors was left to me.

As always, commentary is welcome.

Another awesome paintjob.

You must get tired of the compliments, at this point!

Looks great, the red is really nice.

If I may ask, as you clearly a good painter- Do you paint the red over a black basecoat or white? I ask because I am finally doing my Orks in a red scheme, and am a little scared by all the tales of "Red Woe"...

I used a black undercoat with this mini. I use black undercoats for almost all of my minis these days. I simply don't see much use in to a white undercoat most of the time, since I normally start out with my darker colors and layer up.

The red here was painted with P3 paints- the reds coat a little better than the Citidel versions (I actually was matching a color scheme done in Citidel paints, and you can't tell the difference).

I started out with Sanguine Base (it is a great dark red) I layered up with Skorne Red, and finished off with Khador Red Base (which matches Citidel's Blood Red pretty closely).

Depending on how smooth you want your transitions, you can mix the colors and have more than three layers (I don't remember how many layers the guy above had, but it was definitely more than three).

Well, that's how its done. Happy painting.
