Do death or glory attacks made with meltaguns allow for 2d6 armour penetration? Does the distance the tank move effect whether or not the shot gets the 2d6? I'm inclined to think yes. Thoughts?

Yes they do get the 2D6. The distance it moves dosen't affect the penetration rolls.

Since success means the tank stops "directly in front" of the attacker, sounds like it is inside close Melta range.

Yes, it gets 2D6. No the distance moved doesn't affect it.

Meltaguns are one of the few DoG that might actually be worth trying.

Meltaguns are still better though. The AP1 means an automatic Crew Stunned result, which is nice. The only thing that can go wrong on a Penetrating hit is rolling a 2 and blowing a gun off before your meltagunner goes under the tracks...

How would you resolve a Blast weapon being used for Death or Glory? Place the hole anywhere over the hull, avoiding your own units, and resolve hits on other units as regular shooting would?

I think you'd just resolve a hit at the weapon's strength on the vehicle's front armor and not bother with the blast...

That's the path of least resistance IMHO.

No. You hit automatically and resolve the shot.

The rules don't say that you can, so you can't.

"Whatever form it takes, the attack hits automatically, so resolve the hit against the vehicle's front armour". I would say that you don't place the Blast marker at all, it just hits automatically and can't hit anything else.

I don't believe so, as the cover save is taken if the vehicle moved flat out in the previous movement phase.

So if you pen then explode a tank it blows up in the guy's face? I am now seeing a sergeant starting a slow clap for a frazzled melta guy.

So what if you did move flat out in your previous movement phase and are just moving normally (or flatout or anything inbetween) for the tank shock? Is there anything in the rules stopping you from taking your save? It only says you get the cover save if you moved flatout in your previous movement phase which you would have done.

You'd get that cover save against other attacks, but the DoG attack automatically hits. Cover saves from speeding wouldn't bother the one idiot you're trying to run over.

Automatically hitting with a ranged weapon would not deny cover saves...

No cover saves.

I'm not sure what you're trying to say here, as your quote doesn't show you're right.
Automatically hitting does not deny cover saves. Vehicles take cover saves against hits to begin with.

If you DoG my KFF'd battlewagon with a lascannon or meltagun, I get a save.

You roll to hit, roll to penetrate and then any rolls for cover saves are made.

That is an interesting question. Gut reaction would be to 1) declare DoG, 2) roll effect, if effect is something other than damage dealing shooting ( like teleport ) you are pulverized under the tank, 3) shooting effect is resolved. This way you follow both DoG and Shokk Attack Gun rules.

Another question - which damage effects end in death for the DOG model? Would a 2 (crew shaken /stunned, always get them mixed up - the one that prevents the vehicle from moving next turn) save the melta gunner?

2-stunned
4-immoblizated
5-wrecked
6-exploded

i think that is it.

so how does flat out saving work? if eldar player cast fortune on it and tank shock 12"+ it will be pretty hard to DoG.

please forgive my spelling, i am still learning English.

He had to have moved flat out in his LAST movement phase, not the current one he is ramming you in.

Er, that is to say, he wouldn't get a "Flat out" cover save during the death or glory, unless he moved flat out in his previous movement phase, since the cover save for moving flat out THIS turn, does not take effect until he finishes his current movement phase.

Yeah it appears ig on Turn 3 I move flatout with my skimmer. Then on Turn 4 I cast fortune on it and then tank shock a unit that decides to DoG me I get a 4+ cover save with a re-roll regardless of how far I moved in turn 4. Under RaW though to me I'm pretty sure the rules are that you don't get a save in the above instance.
