Hey there Dakka,

as i keep seeing the name Commoragh in GW fluff for the DE, i cant help but translate this "City" to the biblical city Gamorragh, as in the sister city of Sodom, which were both destroyed....

Anyone else notice this, or know where GW really got the name for the DEs home world?

It's not a world, it's the largest Dark Eldar settlement in the Webway.

It does have connotations of that.

In 40k, the eldar tongue also takes very heavily from gaelic and welsh. The word Commorragh is similar to the words 'comah ragh', particularly in pronouciation; the rough translation of that is 'common assistance at a price'. Very fitting to dark eldar.

Commoragh supposedly makes its biblical counterpart look like a sororitas convent. But yeah, it's pretty obvious what theme they were trying to give it...

Q: How many Space Marines does it take to screw in a light bulb?
A: None. The Emperor IS MY LIGHT!!!
