Subject: How many 3" for ramming?

Hi peeps.
Can I get a call on how you guys work the distance for ramming? The BRB says the ram gets +1 S for each full 3" moved. Do you round this at all? If the vehicle is 11.5" away, what then? How about 11.95" etc.
I'm not after RAW (which is obvious); How do you play?

I play by the RaW. Anything else is, for lack of a better word, cheating.
11.5/3= 3.833333... so you get +3.

Full 3" = Full 3"
2.9" is not 3"
If you manage to get exactly 12" (or another similar edge case), then I applaud your positioning effort and eyeball measuring skills.

How is it cheating? It is just playing by the rules.
However I am with Gwar and Gorka on this 2.99999" is not 3" so wouldn't apply the +1 strength. The rule is clear the RaI is clear and I don't see why anyone would see the need to agree to play it a different way.

Likewise... 3" = 3"
We will sometimes fudge distances if they're out by a smidge (measuring is rarely precise enough to quibble over a couple of millimetres) but 2 and a half inches is definitely not 3.

Yeah I was being pedantic with the 2.9999" thing. In reality if it is more than 2.8" it would be difficult to determine that it wasn't 3" and I'd probably accept it as 3" or near enough if I couldn't easily determin' exactly the distance.

Well, a better word would be 'misunderstanding'. Cheating involves deliberate deception.
But yeah, it has to be a FULL 3". Though I'd probably allow 2.9/2.8, otherwise Ramming becomes kinda pointless.
Oh, and if both players would be happy to allow it at 2.9, that's not cheating either....

This was what I was getting at. I think a bit of leeway one way or another avoids arguments. I find it very hard to measure distances beyond 0.1".

Yeah if you can't be sure I tend to count it as 3" but am not fussed if my opponent wants to do it the other way, it will come down to a judgement call if it is 2.9"-3.1" and generally it will be impossible to tell for sure. If it makes a critical difference you can always roll for it or have an impartial person call the distance.
